We were a formidable side in those days, if the war hadn't come along there's no telling what would have been achieved. It mentions in the article our performances in the third and second divisions, but we were also the first team to rise from the third to the first division in consecutive seasons and then come second in our first season.

What's also interesting is the picture of the 2 Charlton players standing in front of the old main stand and you can clearly see terracing in front.
I was told the stand once had terracing at the front but had never seen a picture before.
