I do feel for their fans but this is what happens when teams overspend for too long.
Football in this country is seriously broken.

The squad lists don't include goalkeepers. We only have 16 and that includes Aneke.
We do have 32 under 21 contract players, but is that quantity over quality?

Let’s see what happens to British football as the Premier League gets depleted by the Saudi league. Won’t quite be a reset but perhaps a reality check. There’s so many teams overspending from the prem and right through the Championship. Derby and Reading Sheffield Wednesday is to name a few.

Surely that just means wages will rise across the European leagues to combat the Saudis? I don't see how another league paying even higher wages will do anything to help English football. Or football as a whole.

Football addresses its challenges by throwing money at it.

Because football is totally broken at pretty much all levels at the moment.
The new owners think we'll be less loss-making if we go to the Championship? No, we'll be more loss making, that's the worst division and Roland Duchatalet knew it.
Reading were relegated from the Premier League in 2013 having won the Championship in 2012, so they'd have got parachute payments for a short while, but they were in the Championship for 10 years in a row.

There’s so many teams overspending from the prem and right through the Championship. Derby and Reading Sheffield Wednesday is to name a few. I don't think they'll ever take enough players though. It's ok signing ageing players and giving them silly money but the younger players will want to hang around (in Europe) and go when they are over 30. I don't have that kind of money, obviously, but, realistically, I don't think there is much difference between, say, £200k a week and £700k a week. £200k a week for three years will mean the player will be able to buy anything and everything he could, possibly, want. Sure they might sign players that are the star of, say, Fulham and double his £40k a week but is that, really, a loss to the Sky subscribers? Also, only four of the eighteen clubs are owned, and funded, by PIF so the league will be, about, as exciting as Scotland or Spain where most of the games will be very one sided. The Champions League will be interesting as I suspect that, in the end, the Saudis will look to buy entry to it. However, UEFA can't allow clubs with massive losses to play if they are going to keep the likes of Man City and Newcastle within their spending limits. Let's face it, Cristiano Ronaldo didn't go to the Saudi League for the money. He went because he couldn't get a gig at a top European club. He only signed for Man Utd because they were the only club that would take him that was ever going to win anything. It's a way for the top players to extend their careers, playing alongside some real talented players (that are past their best) against inferior players that enable them to look good for a few more years. I don't think the Saudi League is any threat to the Premier League. They might be a concern for the odd team - Liverpool with Salah, for example, but, at the same time, it will enable some of these clubs to sell their ageing players for massive fees when, in reality, they want them off the wage bill.

Ronaldo didn’t go for the money 🙄🤑you’re having a laugh. He’s worth close to $1bn dollars. I doubt there is anything on the planet that he can’t, already buy. The adulation, however, is different. He wasn’t even playing at Man Utd. That would have bruised his ego. For people with as much money as he has the acquisition of more of it is irrelevant. The respect he is getting for being treated like a superstar is much more valuable to him.

(Especially the wealthy) Do you really think he values the adulation of Saudi football fans?

I also think he wants to be the star of the team - something that wouldn’t happen in many other top divisions.

Never mind the rest of the world Take away the 200 million a year and Ronaldo would not dream of playing for Al-Nassr.

If he wanted to be star of the team he could have chosen to play for Charlton for £5000 per week 🤑🥱
