English League One side, Charlton Athletic has signed dazzling Nigeria goalkeeper, Samuel Friday from Mavlon FC
The teenager was snapped up by the South-east London based club after displaying excellent performance in the colours of Mavlon FC against Sporting Lagos in a friendly game that ended 3-3 last weekend in Lagos.
Ages just 17, the teenage goalkeeper caught the radar of some clubs in Europe after he displayed great goalkeeping prowess for Malvon FC at the Viareggio Cup Tournament in Italy in March this year and he has continued to show tremendous progress.
Standing at 6ft.5, he is physically built as an ideal goalkeeper for modern day football. It is therefore not a surprise that Italian clubs like Torino FC, Fiorentina FC and Udinese all developed interest in the 17 years old sensation between the sticks.

Fascinating signing. Be interesting to see if this is simply a one-off, random piece of business or part of a new strategy.

I was told about the potential arrival of a Nigerian or two. I did think they were referring to strikers though.

Blimey the size of him against the Charlton backdrop. Get him in the starting XI so we don't concede from every free kick and corner please. Brings our average keeper height up to about 6 foot now!

Very prudent business to look further afield. If this is the shape of things to come I like it.
Do we know how this came about? Our scouting system or agent approach to multiple clubs, for example.
Keen youngsters with something to prove and the desire to change their careers and lives. Too many older cast offs nicking a wage of late.

Given how poorly Isted has been doing he may well get drafted into the first team, particularly in the next 2 games of the EPL trophy.

I can't find any confirmation of this on the OS The prince signing took ages to appear as well, so not unsurprisng. It's not a first team signing so it will likely be under the radar and a week or so late.

Didn’t we get a new keeper for the 21’s a few weeks ago from Chelsea?

I was a bit concerned that Molineaux was reserve keeper last night. Not impressed in kids games I've seen.
Adegoke is bigger, 18 months older and has a bit of men's football. I think Henry only got the gig because he has a number, due to us losing 3/4 keepers close season and Prince yet to be signed.

How long is Isted out for? Originally it was thought to be at least 6 weeks, but is now thought injury is nowhere as bad as feared. ( London news on line ).

Didn’t we get a new keeper for the 21’s a few weeks ago from Chelsea? Yes, Prince Adegoke, a replacement for Ahmed Kone who went to Qatar in the summer for $$$$$. He's the U21s deputy to Henry Molyneux who we signed to replace (best teenage keeper in the UK apparently) James Beadle. Don't want to be playing untried U21 stopgaps (as these guys are) in the league though, do we? Let alone the 17-year-old this thread is about lol!
