Yes there is an issue, he's not good enough, nowhere near. He needs to go out on loan to a National League side, L2 at a push, to learn his trade at a higher level playing regular football.

Agree with Reams. Looks a prospect but not yet. Needs a challenge in mens football to get him ready. A season long loan is required. I think he'd have already been out on loan by now if we weren't so short on strikers.

Unless we get in a striker before Tuesday he should start against Bristol Rovers.

I'm afraid he isn't good enough - yet!
I don't even think he should go out on loan yet, at 18 he needs to make his mark in the U21's first, he's still growing into being a man and L2 or non league IMHO would be too much for him this year.
It's ridiculous that he is anywhere near the first team yet, just as ridiculous that we only have one fit senior striker!
We expect far too much of our youngsters, look at Leaburn already hailed as a hero and most peoples first choice striker, once again IMO he should be on the bench and no more at this stage of his development, he's good, but not that good!
Sign us some bloody strikers!!!!!!!! Please!

Unless we get in a striker before Tuesday he should start against Bristol Rovers. Why? That's a ridiculous comment petetong. He isn't ready, nowhere near ready. That's how you break players. Losing self-confidence at that age carries scars that last a long time.

To be honest I don’t think he looks good enough to make it, at all.
However, I did say the same thing about Karlan Grant just before we went out on loan to Crawley (?).
Certainly I don’t think he’s the answer for us right now.

Looking at Kanu, he must be over 6ft and 12 stone, but he never tries to get physical with a defender. He has pace, FFS roll a CB. Back into him. Have a sly dig so he kicks you up in the air and gives away a cheap free kick. Stand on his shoulder in the middle of the pitch rather than drifting wide.

He needs to be coached and work hard to be a complete striker which is why he's not ready to lead the line yet. Most of what your saying will only come with experience which is why it may have been better for him to drop a level of two on loan and turn him into a man but let's hope he can have an impact this season.

If he is going to be a regular feature on the bench and getting minutes towards the end of games, we can coach him to do those things and work on it with him in training. If he’s going to be forced into the starting line up due to injuries and no other options, then it’s a problem Hopefully we bring a couple of strikers in and can allow him to play in L2 - perhaps at Gillingham/Wimbledon/somewhere local

Top scorer this season so far. Why should he not start or be dropped?

The lad has only just broke through! He needs to learn that side of the game yes, hence why he needs a loan spell or to be in training learning from other players who have that in their games. This is something he hasn’t had due to the squad being depleted!

A very harsh original comment. The darl arts bit of his game will come, the hard bit the scoring ability and the control and reading the game are what makes the higher level player and he has those and is developing ...scoring 4 Goal in a game for southend in a very physical league is no mean feat.
