My Mrs now understands why I didn’t want her taking the kids to London without me.
At the risk of sounding like a grumpy old retired Colonel, this country really has gone to the dogs. Seems to be more focus on people taking offence than in actually clamping down on street offences and personal safety crimes.
One thing the UK still does bloody well is love sport though - been watching some terrific live footy and cricket since I’ve been here.

But then you do live in a totalitarian autocracy which has really gone to the dogs. I used to go to HK a lot with work, and spent 4 happy years living in the region. I was back in HK about 4 years ago and couldn't believe how far it had slipped.

I was back in HK about 4 years ago and couldn't believe how far it had slipped. HK totally mismanaged covid once the vaccines were widely available and stayed locked down far, far longer than we should. They won’t screw up like that again. The riots are also now long over. Streets are safe, government services all work properly and there are no mass strikes. We don’t have a mad crazed culture war so I actually feel there’s more freedom of expression than here. No ULEZ, net zero dogma or Sadiq Khan either! Nowhere’s perfect but it ticks most of my boxes.
