I need to settle a debate at work - What’re peoples opinion on this question?
Would you sack the manager this year, if we are safe in league one (on the last day of the season) but we win the carabao cup ?

It would be something special for Charlton and we’d place in Europe which would generate lots of funds. It’s pretty similar at West Ham when they won the European Conference League. None of them are calling for Moyes to be sacked now.

Would you sack the manager this year, if we are safe in league one (on the last day of the season) but we win the carabao cup ? Are you saying we'd only survive on the last day of the season? So we were in a relegation battle but had won the Carabao cup? If so, the manager would've been sacked long ago if we were in a relegation battle for any length of time. The cup win would be irrelevant as that would be by another manager!

His saying they are given him 4 games, so that’s all it’s earnt him! Let’s see how the season pans out - but it doesn’t look good with no signings through the door and selling their striker

If we won the carabao Cup, Holden would get the freedom of the Borough.

Surviving in the prem is different to surviving in L1, where promotion is your target. They may have a great season this year and be top half again. It wouldn't matter how good our season was, we'd still be in L1 for another year. Surprised West Ham fans would be calling for him to go in as little games though. Mad. Apparently we aren't the only team with entitled fans?

West Ham finished 13th, not exactly clsoe to relegation. And they were 7th the previous season in order to qualify for that European competition.
It has happened on 3 occasions that a team won a domestic trophy but were relegated. Norwich in 1985, Birmingham in 2011 (with Lee Bowyer playing for them) and Wigan in 2013. It nearly happened with Brighton in 1983 and Portmouth in 2010.

Let’s see how the season pans out - but it doesn’t look good with no signings through the door and selling their striker With all due respect, the third European Cup is easier to win (with the budgets that the Premier League clubs have) than a game of Tiddly Winks. However, not withstanding the win of a cup completion, against teams with a budget that is less than 10% of West Hams, I don't know what makes West Ham fans believe that their club have any divine right to finish higher than 13th in the Premier League! Everton are a much bigger club, historically, and have spent much more money than West Ham and they have been in a relegation fight for as long as I can remember. In fact, unless I'm mistaken, every manager, other than Moyes, has managed West Ham in a relegation fight for some of their time there. The big stadium, with cheap tickets, gives a false impression as to their financial might. I see West Ham, like Palace, as one of the clubs who aspires to just stay up. Winning a third rate completion doesn't change that, in my opinion. As for the initial question, if we finish anywhere near the bottom six the manager should go - even if we win the League Cup and the FA Cup. Charlton has no long term future outside of the top two divisions and if any manager, clearly, demonstrates that he can't get us out of League One (in an upwards direction) then he needs to be replaced.
