I was wondering what people’s thoughts were on Spurs seeming to be pushing through a transfer for Sanchez to the Russian club, even though the man himself doesn’t seem to want to go ? A small aside to all our excitement.

They can’t force Sanchez to go (and it’s being reported he doesn’t want to), but they can make life difficult for him by preventing him moving anywhere else.
Whatever happens, this is a real shocker. What on earth are Tottenham’s board thinking? It’s disgusting and disgraceful and an astonishing piece of poor judgement as well as being unfair and completely disrespectful to the player.
This news has emerged on the same day the club’s majority shareholder Joe Lewis appeared in court on insider trading charges in what looks like an open and shut case. Tottenham looks like a club with no values or principles. It would be nice if FIFA, UEFA, the FA or the Premier League could find a way to take action against them. I’m not holding my breath they’ll even try.

I’m not holding my breath they’ll even try. I expect the PFA are keeping a close eye on this. Spurs can't make him move, and while I agree they could make life a bit difficult for him, it's worth remembering that Spurs paid 42 million for him and his contract runs out next year. I expect he's on at least 50 grand a week, so as long as he forefils his contract he can ride out the next 12 months, stick two fingers up, and walk away as a free agent. Only one loser then. Also how on earth are Spartak going to pay for this. Most financial institutions won't touch the Rouble these days.

This really is one of the most bizarre football stories I can remember. It stinks and I’m surprised there hasn’t been more focus on it.That said, no doubt Tottenham will get away with their extraordinary stupidity because the player will refuse to play ball and the story will blow over.

The worst thing is he’s being forced to move to a Country with loads of different sanctions and a team that is banned from playing in Europe.
He should stand his ground.
