Feel sorry for Ness having to play on the left of a 3. Naturally right footed and hugely exposed by CBT who's playing like a left winger. Think it's clear we need a left footed CB for balance.

Hi from an Aberdeen fan. Just so you know, our first 4 centre back choices are either injured or don’t have international clearance. Milne was on loan to lower division side last season & McKenzie an add 3rd choice left back. Surprised you haven’t found a way to goal yet!

We also have 1 fit striker whilst we are playing two up front. So swings and roundabouts.

For me DH pulled the 3 weak Links in that first round of subs, Jones, Camara & Kirk. Further changes followed and we did give a better account of ourselves in the 2nd half. I’ve no doubt that the Aberdeen changes contributed to the recalibration, that said, our starting lineup isn’t necessarily our best 11. My biggest takeaway from today is that we don’t currently have the personnel for a 3-5-2.

Just to let you know that the team (after subs) is mainly from our academy due to new signings not yet fit AND we've yet to acquire Premier League loans. Two of our first XI were EPL loans last season. We can be sure both sets of management will have much to digest from today's game.

Better second half, looked slightly better with Ness and Jones changing, but CBT was obviously told at half time to track back more. We've got to tighten up before the season starts next week, no point in going gung ho to leave ourselves exposed and 3-0 down. Unfortunately when you look at our defensive display it's no better than it was last season which is a major worry!
Hopefully Edun will make a difference at LWB. I'm sure we will bring in a CF, but until we do, we will be wasting Alfie May's talent, he definitely needs someone to play off.
We played ok at times, but once again like last year we were trying to make up a deficit!

My thoughts on that game is that we are four players short, from realistically challenging for promotion, especially if we are going to persist with this formation. A centre half with a bit of pace, two wingbacks who can defend and another striker.

What did I say during the week? We lack a leader at the back, a physical presence who can walk into the club look around at our defenders and say 'Only one of you can play next to me, who's it going to be'? We have numbers back there but not enough quality. CBT and Kirk need to be shipped out. Neither are good enough. This

I alluded to the weaknesses of 3-5-2 in a different thread. As Aaron also pointed out you need players who know the system. CBT never has been a LWB. Ness was excellent as a right footed LCB last year, but doubt he has played much in a three on the left. Doesn't make him suddenly a bad player.
Jones has played LCB before, (I thought he was a leftie when we signed him) why did DH wait till halftime to swop them? Jaiyesimi had a decent last game as LWB out of position but got splinters in his arse.
Need better plan next week. Since RDs experiments we seem to specialise in playing square pegs in round holes.

The situation has to change during pre-season. I'm not a fan of the first four weeks of the campaign passing by when you are still building your squad. The window should close on the Friday before the opening day of the season. That way everyone knows where they are and you are not watching a different side at the end of August compared to the one that started the season.

Agreed Reams .. your squad could look completely diff in 4 weeks time .. I expect ours will from today . Think people are taking pre season to seriously it is what it is .. snout getting players fit and finding out the best systems and who can play where if needed .. after Millwall the expectations across social media was like we didn’t even have to kick a ball to win this league .. and today we played a team far better then Millwall. What does today tell us nothing that we don’t already know CBT not a wing back , we need proper right and left backs which we have waiting in the wings , we need another striker , something the club trying to do. We expect another 4/5 players to arrive with one or two out .. we can only be judged on Sept 1st till then we need to pick as many points as we can , promotion and relegation not decided in August .

Does anyone know why Lewis capaldi was at the ground today? His a Celtic fan for a start, he has having a break from his music. Could we be doing a Wrexham and inviting A list celebs to promote the marketing side. Which ain’t a bad thing they can promote the club on their socials

That way everyone knows where they are and you are not watching a different side at the end of August compared to the one that started the season. We are where we are! The GFP/SE7 takeover was put on ice last February and has only just completed. Holden has been in post all along and Methven, Rodwell etc might have made plans, but Scott only returned during the week. We know the window rules AND we're all old enough to remember August 2018 plus what followed. In the circumstances SE7 have been right to manage expectations. We will just have to see how the first XI evolves August-December. But the SMT absolutely know that we have to hit the ground running... so the squad must be in good shape by end August.

Do red cards carry over? I feel like they don’t but could be wrong! That’s a good question not sure is he just suspended from their next friendly.? I Can’t find any info on it at all. I saw an Orient fan tweet about the injuries and he Included that they have a suspension for next week. But I’m not sure it carries over to the league. I’m sure I would have heard of that rule before! We will find out when the match preview comes out haha!
