Not entirely sure what this fan was referring to but they admitted errors in the transfer market towards the end of the window. Which was refreshing I think we could all see the most glaringly obvious error even at the time…… bringing in the loan kid from Italy rather than an experienced quality centre back…… If we could all see this why couldn’t an experienced recruitment guy…or was the budget all spent by then 🤔🤔🤔👍🤔 What’s an obvious error? What was the budget? You can’t possibly have known when James Abankwah signed that it wasn’t going to work out.

Which was refreshing I’d be interested to understand the level of scrutiny that Scott is subjected to . My current understanding is - not a lot. He’s got an arms length working relationship with the myriad of investors, and can basically bluff them that all is going well. I wonder what metric (if any) is being used to evaluate the success of his 15-17 signings so far ? Surely a point will be reached where he can’t bluff it any longer. January is going to be interesting. Signing an unproven 20-22 year old on loan with Scott telling us he’s “highly promising “, will no longer cut the mustard. If the club doesn’t progress the management team will get sacked. That judgement won’t be made for at least 12-18 months though and it won’t just be about results. A lot will depend on how what gets done stacks up against what was promised. We’ve got some grown ups in the building for the first time in at least 15-years.

What was the budget? You can’t possibly have known when James Abankwah signed that it wasn’t going to work out. We were shipping goals at an alarming level at that time and was crying out for a leader at the back…. Maybe I put two and two together and thought a young inexperienced kid on loan was not what we needed🤔🤔🤔🤔 Funnily enough the kid has hardly had a kick this season and deemed no where near the first team squad by MA….. so as it turned out my gut feeling and quite a few others at the time was right…. and we are still shipping goals at an alarming rate on most games An experienced quality centre back may have made the difference points wise to getting us closer to the top six….. Interestingly Scott also seemed to allude to the fact last night that errors were made by himself during this transfer window….a player who was discarded after one first team appearance would make me think that this was indeed a glaring error…..and just for information I don’t know if the reasoning behind this was down to budget I was just asking the question? Just my opinion though……

They admit they had to take a chance on some of the signings through lack of time.
They want to recruit early and prefer signings to loan
Scott went into a lot of detail about how he almost becomes a "stalker" when looking to sign players, checking their social media to see if they post about football or going out drinking, speaking to coaches and players who've worked with them, have they moved area before, etc etc.

Remember that in the first seas0n of the "new Ipswich" they did almost a complete rebuild but it didn't work out that well at first. They brought in the experienced Paul Cook as manager who had achieved promotion with Wigan a short time before but he didn't work out for them. I was there when we beat them 2-0 at home under Johnnie Jackson when they had just sacked their manager.
They finished the season reasonably well but still only finished mid-table.
It was the following season they kicked in properly, but even then might have missed out on a top 2 place.
My assumption was they had a top 2 budget both seasons, not just a top 6 budget.
I do partly wonder if our board are deliberately delaying promotion until new financial fair play rules come into play in the Championship (or are about to come in).
Roland being unwilling to fund the club in the Championship under the existing rules there, both in 2015 and 2019, is why we are in League One now.

It all comes down to ambition, both from the owners & the fanbase.
We have spent 6/7 seasons paddling in the third tier of English football, and many of us still think that CAFC should be doing better.
Rodwell has apparently said that SE7 Partners see us as a mid table Championship club, but the way they are going about things all but guarantees that they can’t deliver on this.
We need 5/6 proven , experienced Championship quality players in January.
If Duchatelet, Bowyer and Gallen can find the Bauers, the Bieliks and the Lyle Taylor’s, why is Andy Scott still scrubbing about with Terrell Thomas, Terry Taylor & the Poundland Mitrovic that is Tedic.
I’m yet to see a convincing answer to this question.

I don't think that they are waiting for the new rules to save money, I just think that there 'model' will only work when everyone else is limited on what they can spend - as we aren't going to try to match the high spenders.

I’m yet to see a convincing answer to this question. First off Bauer and Sarr were acquired when we were in Championship. These type of players cost Championship fees and command Championship wages. Why would they come to CAFC as a mid-table League One proposition? Secondly, you're displaying a remarkable amount of confirmation bias based upon our victory at Wembley five years back. Anybody can go to around page 100 of this board to seek opinions of our squad live in Oct-Dec five years back. Not sure you were singing their praises at that point 🤔 And finally, it's obvious that some of the SMT will get the boot if we're going nowhere in 12 months time. The investors simply won't buy nonsense forecasts if nothing has been delivered. The other night Scott published the rationale behind Dean Holden's departure. Some of us called it at the time: Holden reverted to his favoured three five two and showed no sign of turning things around. He and Rodwell also announced that the ambition is to become a top 30 club again ASAP. That's to say top half of the Championship. Therefore the logical path is for us to limp through to January AND for the SMT to ask investors for a significant increase in budgets for the window. We certainly do need four or five. Ideally we secure some perm and a couple of EPL loans. But they're unlikely to be Championship quality for reasons highlighted above.

The pressure is well and truly on Scott to bring in some experienced quality in January…. You would hope that targets are already lined up and ready to go… We will see just how ambitious our owners are in January
