At first I wondered if it was maybe unhappiness about losing the number one spot, but on reflection he seems to be a professional and if he had the flu or something, might have spread to the other players. Would've made more sense to let him stay in Spain to recover but maybe it was his choice.

Sounds like covid to me.
Probably preferred to come home than having to stay away from everyone else in Spain..
