Attached my notes from last Thursday. Can I say that I am impressed by Peter Storrie, who has done a good job since he started his two week contract some six months ago. He clearly cares for Charlton and will continue to look out for our results when he moves on. He leaves behind a much more professional outfit that was becoming very close to toxic before he arrived. He also seems to be well liked by staff.
This is copied and pasted from my notes so apologies for the formatting.
Fans Forum 15th June 23 Present from CAFC: Peter Storrie CEO (PS), Tony Keohane DOO, Ron Dangerfield Club Sec, Tom Rubashow Head of Communications
1. General and specific catering issues: a. From SL of EKA - Problems in ACS as huge queues at half time and impossible to see whole game and get served at HT. This has been taken on board and Richard Craig (Head of Catering) will contact SL. b. No catering at all in NW disabled area. Other issues about Disabled areas in ACS, but I have not been to these areas so not fair to comment. 2. Pitch had problems after playing on a half-frozen pitch against Bristol. The Ref instructed the game to go ahead requiring the surface to be scraped, damaging the surface. a. Renovations gone well and grass coming through. I went up to have a look and can confirm that the pitch now has grass, but the pigeons are back! b. Undersoil options in place, but boiler still not connected – Tony. 3. Takeover- a. Men’s and women’s teams are dealt with separately as far as owner fitness is concerned. Mens – EFL, Women’s – FA. b. The FF% is ready to go and will go in next (this) week. c. EFL looking at source of funds, could be 1 or 2 years at the discretion of EFL. d. Everything goes through PS. e. PS himself drew attention to the speed Wigan has gone through, and can only believe that this was due to the situation that Wigan found themselves in. f. There is no doubt that TS is selling 100% of his shareholding, but PS would not divulge the names of the purchasers at this stage. Both parties have signed and committed now, but subject still to EFL approval. g. Everything with EFL now. 4. Player plans not changed, there will be a mix of buys and some frees. PS had a discussion about 2 players that day with Dean. It is possible new owners will change the budget, of course. 5. SMT – PS, Dean Holden (DH) and TS at present. PS heads this up and I asked whether Ts was likely to be fully motivated, and was told that he was. Martin still doing analysis, but not part of the decision making team. a. Steve G is still chief scout, but obviously be aware that the new owners may want their own person. b. PS expects to go when they come in, but would love to stay it seems. DH on holiday at the moment. 6. Season Tickets 4% down on last year, but better than expected. 7. New EFL/SKY deal should be meaning less last minute changes to fixture dates. CATV will continue as normal for this coming season, but could have to make decisions when SKY’s new streaming service comes in 24/25 (I think).

CATV will continue as normal for this coming season, but could have to make decisions when SKY’s new streaming service comes in 24/25 (I think). Many thanks for the updates Simon. Despite them having already been released by CAST your version somehow makes more sense to me but that might be the the way have read it but there are pieces of the jigsaw in there that when put together tell a story instead of causing the hysterics that they have on social media. Here's how I am seeing what you have written. I have rearranged the bullet points in an order that perhaps things should have been fed back to those in attendance. Had they have been discussed this way it might have saved a lot of toys flying out of prams and finger pointing. 3f - There is no doubt that TS is selling 100% of his shareholding, but PS would not divulge the names of the purchasers at this stage. Both parties have signed and committed now, but subject still to EFL approval.3g - Everything with EFL now.3c - EFL looking at source of funds, could be 1 or 2 years at the discretion of EFL.3b - The FF% is ready to go and will go in next (this) week. Now perhaps this is where the misinterpretation has occurred, what has been discussed in the meeting wasn't done so in the same way as the OADT process works so there has been no flow to the PS feedback where one phase of the takeover follows another. I have just rearranged them above so they make sense and are conducive to what is going on at the EFL. So just to sum up - All the papers ARE clearly with the EFL, the club HAS produced it's figures showing running costs and losses over the last two seasons, the EFL ARE running tests on names submitted and finally once that is done the very LAST stage of it all is proof of funds which they have in abundance. These will be submitted NEXT WEEK as PS has confirmed. How can anyonce possibly decide that no papers have been sent in based on that. You just have to count to 10 sometimes and think things through logically. Two other things, if Gallen goes go (to QPR) which I think he might, obviously the buyers will bring in their own man. and finally relating to point 4. above, it's like I have been saying the the last two weeks, there will be a bigger budget for 6 or 7 new players to come in to help us have a real crack at it next season. Over and out.

That's helpful Reams. Anyone still believing it isn't going to happen really needs to read what is factual not make things up. In my view non disclosure agreements (NDAs) are very divisive. People will just fill the gaps with nonsense in the main, I have suffered with this personally. Lawyers love them, which probably says it all.

www.charltonafc.com/news/fans-forum-notes-september-2023cdn.charltonafc.com/sites/default/files/2023-09/Fans%27%20Forum%20September%202023_final.pdf - (Full notes) Managing Director James Rodwell and Technical Director Andy Scott recently met with supporter group representatives at The Valley for the quarterly Fans’ Forum meeting. A variety of topics were discussed including the club’s ownership, recruitment strategy, the departure of Dean Holden and the appointment of Michael Appleton. Full meeting notes can be found here. The below extract covers what was said around the appointment of Appleton as Men’s First-Team Head Coach. Appointment of Michael Appleton (MA) HA (Heather Alderson - Charlton Athletic Supporters' Trust) asked for the criteria when appointing MA. AS said they were looking for someone who was good on the grass as there is a squad that we cannot add to until January, so they wanted someone who can come in and work with the group we have got. He said when everyone is fit, we feel we have a good squad in terms of competition and quality in all areas and we wanted to get more out of that group than we had been getting. He said they were looking for someone who was collegiate, who could work in the infrastructure at the club and who didn’t want to be the old school manager that dictates everything. He said they needed to have an understanding that we are trying to build this football club for the long-term future, regardless of who the coach is. He said hopefully Michael is here for a very long time and is very successful, but should he come out then the next person can come in and still work in a very strong infrastructure. HA asked for the difference between a coach and a manager. AS said a coach works with his staff and the players, mostly on the grass, in the analysis suite, with the individuals. A manager runs everything - recruitment, sports science etc. He said a few years ago that was very commonplace. He said now there are such huge demands on whoever is in charge that it can take away from the time on the grass, which is why they want their coach on the grass, in the analysis room and working with individual players. AS said a good example is that there is a group of owners and a Board of Directors, rather than MA having to deal with various different phone calls, that MA’s time can be better spent, so AS deals with them. He said he wants MA to concentrate on the coaching, analysis and developing individuals and not other elements around the football club. AS said when interviewing him, MA talked about his experiences and the feeling was, based on that and their research, that he had done best at clubs such as Oxford and Lincoln City, where there was a stable infrastructure in place that allowed him to focus purely on coaching. CL (Christine Lawrie - Reminiscence Group) asked if MA would be part of the recruitment team. AS said of course he would. He said there is a meeting scheduled on the type of players he wants from a technical and tactical point of view looking ahead to January. CL asked if MA is solely responsible for picking the team. AS said yes, MA picks the team. IW (Ian Wallis - Bromley Addicks) asked how many people the club interviewed. AS said six people. He said they spoke to a number more, some to see if they would be interested and some to see if their clubs would be open to it. He said the club put together a long list and shortened it based on looking for someone: Who is collegiate Who is a good coach Has a clear style of play and can communicate it well Has achieved success/a promotion Knows what excellence and elite looks like - AS said that is what we want to build at this football club, as it has not had it for a long time; AS said he wants to drive standards up to get the best out of staff and players He said MA fitted on all of those things and ultimately was someone who could come in and try and make us successful this season. IW asked if MA’s player requirements are different from DH’s. AS said part of the process was asking how they would get the best out of the current squad, as we have not got the best out of them this season. AS said it is initially how he can get the best out of this current group. MA was very clear on how he would play and liked the squad in place. AS said MA was keen to speak to Charlton because of the opportunity and the group in place.

It’s amazing how mistrusting our fans have become when they are asking questions like “Is MA solely responsible for picking the team?”. Not sure they were expecting the answer to that to be? “Not solely, Methven picks 3/4 players at random each game”
Good to hear they are already discussing January transfer window.
Shame about Charlton TV but expected with the cost and TV rights changes.
Buying the Valley - No rush essentially. Lease terms are good and no break clause that could force us out of The Valley! This had been rumoured (very strongly) elsewhere. Non story again, shock.

It will be a shame to lose Charlton TV, I can't get to many games, and love listening to Minto, Brownie and curbs. They are saying its too expensive and more games will be on sky next year anyway.
It should remain for this season but is being reviewed. It's not being totally ruled out, and there could be a cut down version of the streaming service next season but by the sounds of it, i dont think it will.
I think the memory lane with ex players should be carried on in some format, always gives me goosebumps.

I suspect that there will be some kind of streaming offering as there will always be an income to be made but it might be limited to what what we had from iFollow previously - one camera and no commentary.

CTV is of an exceptionally high quality and good value for money. I’ve always been surprised that a L1 club could manage it. Thumbs up to TS for this one thing at least. Will be a real shame to see its demise if that happens.

Will be a real shame to see its demise if that happens. It's the best way to watch the games for us ex-pats. I follow is OK but I prefer to pay CAFC. I hope it continues in some format even if (sadly) they do have to get rid of Minto, Brownie & Curbs.

Will be a real shame to see its demise if that happens. I heard rumours that Sandgaard set it up for him to watch it, himself. I suspect that he also asked his friends (associates, obviously) to watch it and wanted it to look professional. It was always going to be difficult to justify having Minto, Brown and Curbishley on it, in the third division. Probably, most (if not all) of those that buy a stream would continue to do so if it was just the game with no commentary. I don't know what the commentators earn but they might be kept on - or volunteers will be used - assuming that the current chaps are not working for free, obviously.

Was this stuff about CAFC TV discussed in the recent Fans' Forum or is the possibility of it being wound down based on the meeting in June as detailed in the first post on this thread?

Was this stuff about CAFC TV discussed in the recent Fans' Forum or is the possibility of it being wound down based on the meeting in June as detailed in the first post on this thread? From the Fans Forum a few weeks ago: Full notes linked above CharltonTV JW asked if CharltonTV will be cut. JR said CharltonTV is an excellent product but it is
expensive. He said it was set up during a different time - during the pandemic. JR said from
next season there will be no domestic streaming because of the new TV deal the EFL have
agreed with Sky. He said the club are looking at what to do this season and there will still
be games live streamed, it is just whether it needs to be quite the level of production it is
at the moment. He said everything that is done will need to be done in consultation with
the stars on CharltonTV such as Scott Minto, Steve Brown and Alan Curbishley. He said the
club are looking at it because it requires investment and it is only this season where the
club can stream in the UK. He said ultimately the club are spending money and are
considering if that money be spent on CharltonTV or something different such as the
JW
academy, the men’s first-team budget etc. He said the club needs to think about how they
spend their money. He said that next season there will not be CharltonTV in its current
format but for the rest of this season, the club are currently reviewing
