Going to the Oval next week for a Vitality Blast match and just wondered where the best place to head for would be before the game. Will have the missus with me so looking for somewhere decent to have something to eat and a few drinks before and possibly after the game although afterwards we have the option of going back to Kingston or even Wimbledon which is the area we are staying in.
Somebody I work with stayed in Brixton last weekend and recommended it for bars and restaurants where you can sit outside and enjoy the area while dining and having a few drinks. She said it's come on leaps and bounds and feels safe but I'm not so sure myself?
Happy to receive any other ideas that might be of interest.
Sandown Park Thursday night and the Oval on Friday.

Hi Paul, Try the Black Prince, it’s about a 15 minute walk from the Oval, (I used to be a member at Surrey so went to this pub a few times) www.theblackprincepub.co.uk/This pub was in the fight scene in the first Kingsman film.. Also many thanks for all the updates on the ownership saga, been following it with great interest.

The Horseshoe pub which is a very short walk from London Bridge station is really decent. I had a couple of meals there and they do nice pub food.

Near the Ground is the Black Dog. On the other Side of Vauxhall Gardens from Kennington Lane. On the opposite corner to it the Tea theatre if you prefer. The Black dog does not have a beer garden a smoking are at the back and benches at front of pub facing the pack. No idea how full it gets before a T20 game.

Earn yourself some brownie points Reams. Whizz the missus around the West End in the morning and then head to Victoria. Plenty of pubs around there and Pimlico. Jump on the Victoria line for two or three stops to Vauxhall and it's a short walk to the Oval. Thanks for all the updates throughout the takeover saga.

Some good advice here.
One of my daughters lives in Stockwell/Brixton and Brixton High street and the immediate surrounds are safe. I wouldn’t worry about that.
There are lots of places to eat and drink there, but I personally prefer Borough Market or the south bank. There’s a hustle and bustle and lots of options. She might like the vibe in Borough Market.
Depends what you want to spend, but the Ivy Tower Bridge might work. You can book a table outside (but under cover) and have a view of the river and Tower Bridge itself. It’s 5-10 mins walk from the entrance to the Northern Line at London Bridge. If you want to splash out, you could go for a drink in The Shard!! It’s right next to London Bridge and the views are spectacular.
Whatever you do, Enjoy!! You deserve it!! Thanks for all the info you’ve been sharing.
PS I’ve got a Vitality Blast game coming up later in the summer. It’s a really fun evening.

Here’s the a link. You need to book though and it’s stupidly expensive. Not quite sure why. You’d be better off making a booking at the cocktail bar, buying one cocktail or glass of wine each and heading off somewhere else. Here’s the link.
