As we are all painfully aware, next season will be the tenth out of the last fifteen seasons that the club has played in the third tier of English football. As if this wasn't bad enough, prior to this miserable run we'd only had four seasons at Level Three since winning promotion from Division Three South in the 1934-35 season. Its no wonder there's a lot of doom and gloom around the place.
However, remarkably, there is evidence that it could all change very quickly, despite a pervasive sense that we're now marooned in League One and that the best we can hope for is to yoyo up to the Championship and back.
There have been thirteen completed seasons since our League One purgatory began, during which time thirty different clubs have been promoted to the Championship. Four clubs have been promoted twice (including us), one club three times and another on four occasions.
Of those thirty clubs nine have subsequently made it to the Premier League. Unbelievable was my reaction to that. Almost one in three. Three different clubs have lost in the playoffs (including one which has lost at that stage twice). So that's nine clubs recently promoted from League One which have reached the promised land of the EPL and three that got very close.
This season Luton have made the playoffs for the second year running with Coventry, Millwall, Sunderland and Blackburn all still in contention for the two remaining places with just one match remaining. We've played all these clubs during our League One sojourn.
Perhaps there is hope for us yet? Bring it on Methven, Friedman, Brener et al!!

Properly run, our club has great potential. But we need to have everything sorted off the pitch first.
