We have some players that might be good enough in a top six side and/or as back up for a top six side but we need to be careful because if we keep the whole squad we are likely to finish mid table again.

Decisions decisions decisions for Holden
Centre backs that we have at the moment..
Innis out of contract Hector out of contract Lavelle contract Mitchell ? Thomas out of contract Elerewe ? Ness
I would keep Hector. Innis has had enough seasons at this club Thomas to be let go. Get a proper left back in. Elerewe hasn’t kicked on Lavelle to be given away ? Mitchell and Ness keep.
That leaves.. Hector Mitchell Ness
Sign two experienced championship classes centre backs.
Of course this all depends on Sandgaard or the new owners (if exists) budget.

I thought he did alright at the weekend, although they didn't put him under much pressure.

I don’t think Hector will want to stay. If that’s the case and we release Inniss and Thomas we will have just one centre half, Ness, and he has only, really, played a handful of games. As his injuries seem to have gone away I think I would keep Inniss. I can’t see us signing three decent centre halves. We are going to leave us too much to do if we let all the less than stellar players go.

Unconvinced by him. I feel uncomfortable (like watching Maguire for England) whenever he and Inniss has the ball at their feet.
He's definitely not a LB. I feel we need better in CB than Thomas.
We should sign Hector asap imo.

I would sign him as a LB option (think he's been better than most in recent years barring Sess) - if it's to play CB then no, I'd scout for better.

Inniss looked a diff player alongside him and overall this season has put his injuries behind him and played well people will always pull him up for a mistake but forget the previous 20 games he played , if Inniss had made the mistake Ness did at Plymouth the reaction would have been massive .. so I would keep Inniss and Thomas at Cambridge was excellent and Saturday was again excellent , and if can be a back up for CB and LB then why not give him another year ? Henry still think release , Morgan another few months ago 100% release him now not so sure we will .

Hector-Yes. Inness, Thomas and Morgan- No. Henry - Definitely Yes. And sign Wheeler from Wycombe for the midfield.

Let’s be honest here, and a bit brutal, with existing players coming to the end of their contracts and whether we should offer another contract I always ask myself the same question….Would the likes of Pompey, Bolton, Derby or Posh come in for an offer for him? If the answer is no then maybe we need to consider bringing in the quality required
He has been part of consistently the worst defensive season For us that I can recall for many years and if you want to strive to become part of the top six you need to invest in top six players quality wise

Get rid and Hector both have had more than enough chances this season to prove their worth and both have failed we require new signings if we stay up.

Mid-table form and nothing to suggest that this will change much over our final six games. Perhaps we should frame our views around defence and attack over these last ten? There have been some quality additions in January who feature in the first team and ideally more additions to follow. Granted that top six clubs are unlikely to come in for players out of contract at CAFC. But it's a squad game, so why would Scott, Jones and the scouts plus SMT seek to replace existing squad players with more of the same from elsewhere? How many minutes do we/they expect from Hector and / or Thomas next season? Conversely many would take a separate view at Keeper and striker where we need to release / sell / loan out players to create space for quality. Time will tell.

In all honesty REG and two new signings should be our first choice back three next season.
We need 3-5 others though (cover for injuries etc, 7-8 is standard if running three at the back).
Gilesphey will be one of those and I don't mind some or all of Hector, Jones and Mitchell (not Ness - he can do one) being the others.
We do need at least two new CBs in the summer though, one being a central kingpin type. Surely everyone agrees with that?

I think sometimes he shows touches of real quality but gets caught out for speed too often leaving us open. Could be retained for backup but we need better in my opinion.

A squad player at best. I would let him leave.
