Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of Jamaica international Michael Hector. The experienced centre-back has amassed over 400 senior appearances in his career to date – including 35 caps for his country. The 30-year-old, who has put pen-to-paper on a deal until the end of the season, becomes the Addicks’ second deadline-day signing following the arrival of ball-playing midfielder Gavin Kilkenny. www.charltonafc.com/news/done-deal-michael-hector-joins-addicks

Why is he still commenting on Charlton business, shouldn't it be Rodwell?

Do you mean better than the injury prone, mistake prone, red card prone Ryan Innis.

Literally what is the point? He's not match fit and we have nothing to play for anyhow - if we need a centre back then give Elerewe some minutes.

Just a thought, but get him in the club for a few months, assess him and his fitness and have him play for a longer contract in the summer - or get rid if he’s not what DH wants/needs

Unless he's been brought in on de minimis wages (possible) then I can't see what the upside is here.

An extended trial before the summer rebuild? That places a huge burden on DH to get him fit and right tho. There’s a reason he has been sitting on his arse for the last year.

I’d personally offer him a deal for next year. Looks solid.

If Micheal Hextor goes in to be an addick legend and becomes the manager like Jonny Jackson; the nicknames of The Valley to 'Hector's House.'is my joke, so no one else can plagerize it.

Rich Cawley reporting that Micheal Hector would like a new contract at CAFC for next season.
This will be an interesting litmus test of where the owner’s ambitions are.
Hector is 32 in the Summer, and in my opinion would not get in Portsmouth’s squad, let alone in their starting 11.
We have a nucleus of defenders for next season with REG, Gillesphey, Jones and hopefully Small, but we need to supplement them with far better quality than Terrell Thomas, Hector & Edun.
Hector’s public plea should be met with a polite “no thanks”.

No thank you, move him on please It's been said there are one or two whose contracts don't run out and we will have trouble getting rid. Makes sense that the likes of Hector should go as we need to get rid of what dead wood we can.

He read the game exquisitely yesterday and didn’t put a foot wrong putting out fires caused by his other central three partners…… Ability wise I think he is streets ahead of Thomas and certainly showed Gillesphey how to defend yesterday…….Would be get much better in the summer, I would hope so as we need a quality leader to play in the middle of the back three, but on the form of yesterday I would have no qualms about him be part of that new back three for next season
