Cheap as chips option.
Only just received his badges, done nothing in the game to date, wouldn’t be considered for another manager’s job in the league, so won’t answer Sandgaard & Son back ✅
In the space of two years we’ve gone from having a manager who was an England international and elite Premier league player, to a youth coach of a mid table 3rd tier club.
I wish Hayes all the best in his short stint in the role, but to hear him talking about CAFC being a “massive club” marks him down as another Sandgaard patsy.

A couple of wins and he would be firm favourite for the role. As you say, an easy, cheap, in-house appointment.

He's a budget mid table 3rd division manager for a budget mid table 3rx division team.

What were you expecting for the caretaker manager? It's always someone in house. We didn't really have many left to choose from.
I doubt TS has done much planning for a replacement tbh. He's likely hoping Hayes does well so he doesn't have to pay someone else.
Or (more hopeful) he's the caretaker whilst TS sells up and fucks off.

Putting it politely, Hayes is very inexperienced. If he’s still in the role in January, can anyone see him demanding much of Sandgaard and Martin in the transfer window ?

Most bookies pay out on a caretaker being the permanent manager once they’ve managed ten games. We’ve got seven games between now and 1st January.

Curbishley and Gritt were inexperienced (managers). That worked well.
Pearce brings the playing experience (he's got tons of that). Hayes hopefully brings a bit of calm and instills belief.
But,it could also be a short appointment.

I think there is a clue in the Caretaker name. I really am not interested in who the next manager is. The problem is Sandgaard and it will carry on being Groundhog Day if he stays.

Agreed Dickie, but it’s relevant in terms of us needing a manager who can keep us up this season. I genuinely can’t get my head around the handful elsewhere who keep trying to defend and justify appointments like Hayes. Who is to say how short term it is ? It’s saving the owner more money, always his bottom line. Interesting that a non entity called Marc Bircham is in the betting for the job full time - he played with Gallen at QPR 👍

I agree that we need a manager to keep us up this Season. Somebody has to take over and run the team until the new manager has been found. As Hayes has been part of the Coaching team and Pearce has been part of the playing squad, until recently, it makes some sense. We could have gone down the route of bringing in an old hand to steady the ship. But who in their right mind would take up that role?

That sort of 'old hand' would be very epensive compared to what Sandgaard wants to pay. Hayes should be in charge for no more than two games - tomorrow and Saturday. If we are looking at out of work managers they should be brought in in less than a week. Sad thuth is that any manager coming into our clusterf**k of a club will want a large payday. Either a long-ish contract with a decent pay off or a large bonus to take over until the end of the season. I can't see Sandgaard wanting to commit to either of those. Hayes could, well be in-situ until the end of January. If he picks up a few points he might be kept on as caretaker until the end of the season. I am hopeful that, even with Hayes staying on, we will avoid relegation this season but there is nothing like success on the horizon. Nothing else, really, maters. We just need the Sandgaards out of the club. Until that happens we will be lucky to just tred water.

Under Sandgaard every manager is a 'caretaker'.None of them last more than a few months.
Like Dick I couldn't give a flying fig who the next manager is. It's irrelevant. If we manage to stay up this season we will go down next if there's hasn't been a change of ownership.

Hopefully you will join the protests at the Brighton game Nigel 👍 It will bring back fond memories of your Student Union days, when you joined Emily Pankhurst and the Suffragettes as they sought the franchise. Good luck to Hayes, but he is doomed from the outset. Let’s hope it doesn’t do long term damage to his career.

Hayes career could be on the scrapheap after this caretaker ship. Scott Marshall was also offered the caretaker job but he turned it down and will be on his way. Hayes did an excellent job with the U18s and U21s. But I fear he has signed his own death warrant by agreeing to be caretaker.

Hayes looked totally out of his depth tonight, even against Stockport.
A cliche ridden glorified Youth coach. We were hopelessly set up from start to finish.

Looked like a lost little boy. He can fuck off along with most of this squad and the cunts in charge.
