I might be in danger of reading too much into Garner’s interview and of confirmation bias, but my takeaway is that what we’re hearing is a coach talking. That is, someone who’s primary focus is on improving outcomes with what he’s got, by working with players both individually and collectively. For me, this is a positive and in stark contrast with his recent predecessors who seemed to be most concerned about ‘filling gaps’ in the squad in the hope that, somehow, performances and results would improve as a result. Reflecting this mindset recent recruitment has often seemed ill considered or even quite random. I’ve no idea what happens next in terms of signings, but I’m confident they’ll be a real purpose to all new arrivals. That does not guarantee they’ll work out, but it has to be better than what has gone before.

You changed your tune !!!!! We're all entitled to do that. A new manager, hopefully pretty much a new team certainly a new style of play. Why shouldn't we be willing to give the new regime a chance? I’m more than willing , but will reserve judgment until after I’ve seen what’s dished up on the pitch. So far I’m underwhelmed, bar 1, by the recruiting.

So you don;t think that Wollacott is a step up on Henderson? O'Connell on Famewo? McGrandles on Watson? and Egbo on Gunter?

My thought on Wollacott is he maybe a goal keeper who likes to punch the ball clear. A European and African style of keeping that lower league players in this country are not comfortable with, but one swallow does not make a summer.

He’s the one signing I’m currently sceptical about I know there was comments on pressure from Ghana to play at a higher level, but to me it just came across as nerves. Maybe he'll settle into it when the pressure dies down but some players just aren't comfortable playing for big sides.

His highlight reel from him playing for Ghana looked poor, his interview seemed the least assured of all the new players and the goal against us in the friendly 🥺

Still a lot of work for the recruitment team to do, two left backs and two attackers as a minimum, maybe another attacking midfielder. I'd offer Davison in part-ex for McKirdy and throw in Albie Morgan on a season long loan to sweeten the deal and see if they want DJ back! Obviously it's only early days, but not sure about Wollacott, he may have been nervous being his first outing, but he didn't look the ball playing keeper we were expecting. Reserve judgement until I see Egbo at right back, but apart from the pass back, he looked to have something about him. Out of the three newbies on show, I thought O'Connell was the stand out, looked very comfortable on the ball and didn't have a problem using his left foot. Of the three youngsters, Leaburn doesn't look ready at all (I saw a lot of him last season), Deji was very good, and unfair to judge Henry having been played out of position. Looking forward to Dartford and our first glimpse of McGrandles.

Three things there that stood out for me. No end product up front emphasised by Davison allowing the ball to land on his head instead of him attacking it which was poor and Wollacott wrongly blaming Egbo for the back pass. Haha! As a Swindon fan I had to take a look at how the Swindon rejects performed for you. Wollacott lost his place for our last 5 matches, he can't deal with crosses and his distribution was often poor, usually blaming other players. Good shot stopper but Ward who replaced him, is bigger and much more commanding. Egbo, flatters to deceive, good first touch but lacks pace. Good going forward but suspect in defence, drifts inside and leaves his winger with oodles of space - again and again. Very frustrating. Josh Davison? Beyond hopeless, cost us promotion, can't shoot, can't head, heap of crap. If you manage to get Jack Payne he is superb. Fantastic player. Likewise Louis Reed. Garner plays frustrating football. We called it Garnerball. Think Butch Wilkins. What he says and what he does ....... Good luck, you'll need it this season!

Please keep Davison, preferably in an unlockable cell.

We have signed four players so far this summer and the two ex-Swindon lads I am trying to make a case for but deep down the backing I have given them on here is more out of hope that expectation. Worry not about Reed or McKirdy, our owner is a cowboy who has no money to spend on new players, he just wants to call himself an owner of a football club so he can massage his ego. He will be hounded out by October.

He’s the one signing I’m currently sceptical about Yup, rightly so. Awful on crosses, fails to command his penalty area. Poor distribution. You won't see much of him though, he's always away with Ghana. Lost his place at Swindon because the reserve came in and was far better. Prediction: he'll be on the bench by November and you'll be scratching your head at the goals against column!

He's going to be second choice anyway. Whoever decided that he was the better option between himself and Maynard-Brewer needs to ask themselves if decision making in football is for them. If it was Garner's call then it's naive.

I’d much rather listen to the views of fans who have actually seen these lads play. As for Garner, he’s going to need a flying start this season. Our fanbase worked Nigel Adkins out fairly quickly as a bullshitter, and Garner will be down the road pretty quick if he tries to emulate him. There’s an old saying in South London, “you can’t kid a kidder”.

He has quick reactions and is a good shot stopper, he's not that bad! Poor on crosses though, really stands out. A flapper.

Definitely John, would normally be doing Dartford and Colchester for sure, but I suppose I'll have to suffer an ice cold San Miguel and 90 degree heat whilst watching the games on Charlton TV Hope to be over for a couple of games during the season, we'll have a beer mate!

Yes so many years of following the lads is hard to kick but Charlton tv, sun and cold beer do the job nicely. Let us know when you are back pal 👍
