Maybe I'm being overly harsh here but there is an air of non-league about this entire operation. Mainly because Harry Arter was brought in to the club under some fanfare and now he's getting average reviews playing in... Non-league for Notts Co... Sums it all up doesn't it. |

Regarding buying players from non league football - can I just mention Sorba Thomas, a player, a non league player, we were interested in last summer. Apparently we were reluctant to pay the asking price at the time. He now plays in the Championship for a club that might be in the Premier League next season.
Of course it’s a risk considering buying a player from the lower leagues, but if they’re good enough .......
The same applies to Ron the Secretary. If he can do the job, a job that is essentially an anonymous administrative job at the club, what does it matter what his immediate background was?
I think some of these concerns are, on this occasion, baseless.
Just my view. 👍🏻

With respect we are 13th in League One for numerous reasons, none of which are because we have signed players from non league football. Those that we have signed all came from either the EFL or loans from the EPL, the majority of whom most of us would agree are crap or sub standard - perhaps if we’d signed Sorba Thomas for example we might be in a better place? But we’ve got a hugely criticised recruitment department and an owner who many say hasn’t got the finances to fund the club properly. Just two reasons. Now the appointment of Skiverton has not been a raging success and if for any reason JJ and Euell were to leave, and the former appointed as their successor that would be a huge concern for me. But we have had managers in the past with League experience that haven’t cut the mustard which just goes to show that every appointment or player recruitment is laced with risk. The club has gone backwards, there is no dispute on that score. |

He's previously been head of academy ops (at Brentford),as well as club chairman (Maldon & Tiptree), so it's not as if he's just been picked off the street..I've no idea if he is any good, and I doubt anyone else does either. Club Secretary is an admin role, albeit senior, and is frankly the least of our worries.
