There’s plenty of time for Kanu. 100% Back in the day he would have had a game or two in the Football Combination where he would come up against experienced old pros. But now the gap between Academy and the 1st team is massive in terms of physicality and know how. Let him have some games in the U21s and then let’s revisit the situation next season. |

I would like to see him on the subs bench occasionally (particularly if he's taking Watson's place), training with the 1st team and getting the odd 10 mins or so. Give him an idea what the jump is and a taste of it.

I would hope any of the youngsters that start to show their true potential over the next 6mths to a year, would be offered a longer contract. |

My understanding is that as he's only 17 that is the longest contract he can sign. Thanks. That is fair enough. Presumably we can extend it when he's 18. Yes, that's why it says "at least until 2024" as there is the option of extending when he reaches the legal age of majority.
Whether we give him a cameo or two off the bench before the season is over to my mind should depend on how we go. I wouldn't introduce him into a struggling and demoralised side that had forgotten how to win. But if we can perform like we did against Pompey over the next few games and get ourselves into a healthier position than our current lowly 15th place, it would be nice to see him get 10 mins here and 15 mins there towards come March/April.

My original point remains, though. If we are safe from relegation by March and in a decent mid-table position with nothing to play for either way, it's a perfect opportunity to give him some game time. If we're still struggling and the dressing room culture isn't confident , then he's best kept away from the first team.

Leaburn will be back by then and that will help Alfie May. Aneke won't be goiing anywhere because nobody is going to pay what he earns for a half fit striker. If Miles stays then we need one other perm but I would get a decent loan striker in too.
Bolton and Pompey have players up front and in midfield who score for fun and the only way we'll be going up is by having the same. We have zero goals from teh middle of the park and only one regular goalscorer upfront.
