www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57382976Training centre refurbishments, new specialist staff members and a 'one club' approach - Charlton Athletic women have been building something exciting behind the scenes as they prepare to go full time in July. Manager Karen Hills, who joined in March after 13 years at Tottenham, has had a busy few months working on recruitment as the club have ambitions of playing in the Women's Super League. So what are the club's plans? How will Hills select a squad of full-time players? And how are Charlton embracing the women's team?

If they are playing under the Charlton banner good luck to them. If they do well it's all good publicity for the club, women's football is getting more and more popular. It seems it's part of TS's overall plan.

Best of luck to the womens' team. Great work by TS to back them.
I'm inclined to do some league tables on their season, along the same lines as the ones I've done for the mens' team over the past few years, to keep tabs on their progress.

Over 300? What was Sandegarrd thinking diverting that money away from the first team to make them professional to entertain <300 people. It puts the signing of Ronnie Schwartz onto perspective.

I see this complete non issue has riled all of the usual suspects in our fanbase - the woke, left wing , “I’ve got a right to be offended on your behalf” virtue signallers.
It’s a very sad state of affairs when a woman pretends to be offended by being called a lady.
As for any male Charlton fan agreeing - just attention seeking, and being Woke to get Likes on Twitter.

At risk of seeking some attention; Ladies is the equivalent of Gentlemen. We don't have Gentlemans football teams, we have Mens football teams. We also have Womens football teams and so it should remain. Nothing to do with being offended on someones behalf or being 'woke' It's just modern terminology.

We don’t have men’s football , we just have football. The only reason we are hair splitting over terminology at all is the obsession of a certain section of society to ram poor quality, niche sport down our throats at every opportunity, whilst claiming parity with the mainstream, long established elite game. England ladies beat Latvia ladies 20-0 last week, and the Latvian lady goalkeeper couldn’t kick the ball within 20 yards of the half way line. It’s risible. Call it for what it is - crap sport. You can’t though, in some quarters, because of virtue signalling. If Craig MacGillivray’s legs were so weak and technique was so poor that he couldn’t kick a football 30 yards, don’t you think he would be criticised , and rightly so? What irks the silent majority in this country is that for the virtue signallers, exemplified by many CAST people who post elsewhere, this insidious culture creep is never ending. There is nothing more laughable than a man pretending to be outraged on behalf of a woman who has been called a lady, all to get a few Likes on a Charlton forum or Twitter.

While CAST fixates on whether ladies should be referred to as err...ladies, a large Twitter poll of CAFC fans last evening found a whopping 83% disagreeing with Sandgaard if he only gives Jackson a contract to the end of the season. As for the Ladies Team, big Sandgaard fans like aaronaldo can't have it both ways. All year they have told us that this is Sandgaard's club now, and he can do with it as he wishes. By renaming Women as Ladies, surely he is doing precisely that? It can only be a matter of time now before Rick Everitt issues a decree that Sandgaard is not a "good guy" after all, and it is time for the Rickster to make CAFC "unmanageable" again.

Doesn't matter if they are called women, ladies or girls,it's a case of Sandgaard once again opening his mouth without engaging his brain. Consult first not afterwards,I think he must also be advising Boris.

We are Charlton.
The skanks, chavs and hoes support/play for M@!!$!ll or P@#!#e.
Our females are quite simply better than the south london riff raff of other local sides and quite are rightly regarded as Ladies.

What bloody diff dies it make for his sake … But bexleyboy …..fans like you have reminded us all Summer that Sir Sandgaard “saved the club” ,and we should feel endless gratitude. Certain posters elsewhere reminded us daily that it’s his club to do as he likes with. He has. He’s made an Executive decision. Charlton Ladies. The Sandgaard hypocrites are going to have to suck it up, unless their messianic support for him is conditional on him making decisions which they approve of (which I always expected to be the case).

I don't know why you are dragging me into this. I support the club and owner (unless he's proven to be detrimental to the club). I don't even know what this is all about. It's Charlton Women isn't it? Although their league has a mix of names so I don't see the issue. My only comment is that the Womens team needs a differentiation from the men's teams or they will start using stats from both teams. Gets a bit ridiculous when Chelsea's biggest win is all of a sudden due the Womens team beating some team 40-0 or something. The women's game hasn't been around long enough (not their fault) to achieve the same standard throughout the leagues that the men's team now has. It does annoy me when SSN or Radio etc they talk about a team playing Champions league or something and then you realise they are talking about the womens team a few minutes in.

aaronaldo It was Charlton Women - but the owner has intervened, and renamed them Charlton Ladies. This has “upset” all the right people in our fanbase, including poor old Richard Wiseman & his group of left wing militia in CAST. Not to mention the de facto leader of the People’s Republic of SE7, Rick Everitt. These people can’t have it both ways - the suspicion must be that once again they want a say in how the club is run day to day, regardless of who the owner is. I regard myself as an expert on female matters. I used to be married to one. If Mr Saandgard has accidently upset females with his name change; it might be worth resubmitting the idea at a different time of the month and the females might react differently.

Seems a weird move. Nobody was calling for a change and I don’t see how the new name makes the team more modern and future proof, which is usually what a re-brand of any description seeks to do.
Must admit that I’ve never watched our women’s (ladies?!) team in person, and my only real experience of women’s football is watching England in the major tournaments and it’s always been an enjoyable watch.
I’ve said before, the UFC is currently the gold standard in how women’s sport is treated in my opinion. If you went to a live UFC event (for example the event tomorrow night being co-headlined by Amanda Nunes) and started spouting off about how they didn’t hit as hard as the men, or weren’t as physically strong, you’d be rightly laughed out of the arena.

I think recent ownership hasn’t needed the help of the Harvey Gardens rag seller
