A world of difference from some of the other departures earlier this season and all the more reason to build up our academy and technical support. Academy players who make it into the first team squad and then the first XI aged 23-25 will spend anything up to 15 years at the club. A relationship builds and there are ethics and integrity with perhaps less funny business from agents.
We saw the same type of behaviour from Bauer and Sarr who gave their all and then moved on to Championship clubs.
And finally some real appreciation for those two seasons which saw us win at Wembley but then go down due to the embargo. That's the way it should be when players move on, whether they are sold for a fee or released when they don't appear to fit into plans. It would have been nice to see him and Matthews pull on the shirt this season but in Amos and Gunter we look to have decent replacements - and that's what helps keep our club going forwards.

We miss Dillon badly. He’s a far better shot stopper than Amos. To think that the “weakness” in Dillon’s game was his kicking. We’d settle for that now.

Amos’s form has dipped of late. Having a poor defence in front of him has obviously contributed to that, but he is not as commanding in the box now , which was one of his strengths.
If LB is insisting, that we keep playing it out short from the keeper, I give up. A better opponent could have scored two or three goals from these tactics, and even Fleetwood nearly did.
The poor form, goes right throughout the team, with very few exceptions, in very few games, there is no confidence, no fight, no leaders, no hero’s .
These players, are not like Charlton players, I have no real affinity to any of them any more.

He, probably, earned decent (but not exceptional) money but has only played 45 games in three years. Overall I would suggest that the move was a mistake. He was first choice for us and has been nothing more than a reserve since he left. He might, now, be a back up keeper for the rest of his career. I have no hard feelings towards him but sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. |
