Scored for Borussia Dortmund today in the Champions League.
I thought Nigel Adkins got the best out of him whilst he was here, but the quality of the loans we got back then compared to now...
I know we want our own players, but maybe with Nathan Jones as manager we can also attract a few good loans?

What a quality player he was for us. Great to see him doing so well.

I think it goes to show how some players can improve with age with the right coaching, I didn't think he was that great for us but did him a favour with his progression giving him first team football.

I might have been in the minority but I thought the guy was absolute quality when he was with us…..but he seemed to be viewed as a bit marmite ability wise amongst the overall fan base

Slightly off the main topic, but I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about this so here goes.
Chelsea signed Ian Maatsen from PSV Eindhoven in 2018. He is not a product of their academy. He recently signed a contract extension at Chelsea through to 2026 and yet since signing almost six years ago he has made just one Premier League start, during which he was hooked after 58 minutes. He’s made two starts in the Carabao Cup and, including substitute appearances, he has just 15 caps for Chelsea in competitive football.
Now 22, he’s had successful loans at Charlton, Coventry, Burnley and now Dortmund. This is classic player hoarding while allowing other clubs to develop him. No doubt come the end of the season, Chelsea will look to sell him, perhaps to Dortmund if they’ve been impressed. His valuation as far as the balance sheet is concerned will be zero so that any transfer fee will be recorded entirely as a profit and used to offset the club’s huge losses as they attempt desperately to avoid a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
You can’t blame Chelsea for operating in this way, but I do wonder if more can be done to limit further this kind of anti competitive behaviour?

Rules had to be introduced to stop them hording so many players before! They used to have 50+ players out on loan each season.
