Spot on Mundell, I don't know how much more proof some of the chaps on here need. By the look of the statement the problem is Nimar and where his funds come from and why he hasn’t provided the evidence to the EFL. That’s if MS is telling the truth which if not I doubt he’d open himself up to defamation by making that statement?!

I simply don't get Southall and Heller passing this Director's test, if the funds are coming from Nimar, who hasn't passed the test. Am I missing something here with this statement?

If Duchatelet sold the footballing side for £1, and if he now steps away and allows the Club to fold because of that sale, a lot of people are going to wonder whether that was not his intent all along. If that happens, Roland's position might be legally watertight. But to me, and to many others I think, Duchatelet (not ESI) will be remembered as the owner who closed down Charlton Athletic.
If Roland has not brought this situation about by design, he is more likely to step in and prevent the immediate closure of the Club with some kind of emergency funding. Possibly because (as Mundell has said in the past) RD may believe it is morally the right thing to do. Only more time will reveal whether a sense of morality is his true motive. The idea that Duchâtelet may have created this situation deliberately is as ridiculous as the suggestion that any owner would be better than him. We are now in very deep shit precisely because that view was never remotely true. I’ve no idea what happens now. I do think there’s a chance that Duchâtelet might be motivated to be constructive, if only to prove he’s not the devil incarnate that you and others believe him to be. However, I doubt that will extend to being willing to take back ownership of the Football Club. Why would he want to spend yet more money only to be vilified, hounded and abused? Matt Southall or the receiver will need to find a buyer for the club. As we know, they don’t grow on trees. The problem is not that the club doesn’t own the Freehold. The problem is that the club almost certainly owes Duchâtelet a lot of money. His contribution to saving us might be a willingness to reschedule the repayments or even take a haircut. That wouldn’t be entirely altruistic. Realising the asset value would not be easy. Your anger should be directed at Matt Southall not Duchâtelet. If things are as they now seem (and it is an if) and if Southall turns out to be a chancer and a conman as alleged (and that’s also an if) then it will be Southall, not Duchâtelet, who has lied, who has acted in bad faith, who will have used the club for his own ends, and who will be directly responsible for a fate potentially far worse than anything that could have happened under Duchatelet. This is no less painful for the fact that it has seemed almost inevitable from the day Southall appeared as the man leading the takeover. Mundell , After reading the statement , do you still suggest directing anger at MS....? As it would seem Nimer maybe the problem....

We have already seen Southall being economical with the truth during his time at the club. If you ask me, both of them are coming across in all this as being a crooked as each other.

This post from CL sums everything up nicely for me.

Think the answer seems to be clearly neither. Both sides seem incredibly dodgy. Nimer is probably a who thought he could just run a Champions League football club like PSG city and get his way, Southall a complete moron and has jeopardized our future for happily letting someone like him fund us for some power
Probably Southall worse slightly my initial thoughts

From day dot Nimer was teasing on twitter, cryptic messages, hasn't funded, drunken Instagram rants, buying Dinamo at the same time... I can't look past this being more Nimers fault. Edit - not to mention public defamation killing his court case.

Based on what Southall has said tonight, If Nimer has put no money into the club who was meant to be funding the Maddison transfer? Like I said there never was one and the £30k wage bollocks was also a lie.

Mundell , After reading the statement , do you still suggest directing anger at MS....? As it would seem Nimer maybe the problem.... I don’t know any more than you hairyhotdog I was reacting, perhaps too emotionally, to the fact that the club is being brought to its knees and that we’re still blaming Duchâtelet. This simply wouldn’t have happened on his watch and it’s no consolation to have been saying that since talk of a takeover began. As for who we might be angry with, perhaps the answer is ‘all of them’ until we get some clarity. In the meantime, this is Southall’s baby. He brought Nimer to the party and sold him the ticket. As far as I can tell, he’s got no money of his own and hasn’t paid an entrance fee. So he’s certainly on the hook as far as I’m concerned. It wouldn’t surprise me if Nimer should be in the dock too. I never did like all that bullshit on Instagram. Let’s hope we win at Hull on Saturday. As I’ve been saying, the brown stuff we’re now in might be less deep if we’re playing Championship football next season. We might just find a White Knight that way.

Everything for at least the last 10 years has been lies and chicanery. The last Charlton Athletic owner who was not a crook was Richard Murray.
Now all the lies and schemes have led us to this. No longer a blip or a molehill; the worst crisis since 1984. Maybe worse than that in the fullness of time.
The one thing fans want to know more urgently than anything else is does the Club have a future? I guess we won't know that, for a short while at least.

Flat. Just flat. I wanted RD gone. I wanted him to go and for someone to come in who genuinely cared about the club. I didn’t particularly want obscene amount of millions thrown on the squad, I didn’t particularly want promises of Premier League football in a set timeframe, I didn’t want the club to be a play thing for another egotistical person or group, to damage, abuse and tear apart like a cheap doll. I just wanted a football club where the focus was on what happened on that patch of grass on Floyd Road, not to continue to be a soap opera for others to revel in, laugh at and poke fun at.
I never allowed myself to celebrate too hard when RD left. I suppose the damage and mental scars, for want of a better term, had been done. I’d seen first hand the damage a person could do to what was once the model Premier League club that every promoted team aspired to be. I suppose, while I did think that like the M People said, things can only get better, there was always a “what if?” in the back of my head hammering away at the first shred of a brighter future we could have had and so desperately deserved to have.
I’ve seen plenty of abuse aimed at a myriad of people at the club this past few days and I can’t even bring myself to join in. These people in charge at the club are many things, many things you wouldn’t say out loud in front of your mother but I’m so dejected. Losing to Boro felt bad on Saturday and was a kick in the teeth but this is that feeling multipled by as many lies we’ve been spun by Nimer, by Southall, by RD, by Miere, by Jim White and by The FA and Football League.
I want to finish by apologising to Lee Bowyer. I love the bloke. I’ve never met him but I watch on from afar so jealous of him. He’s done what we’d all dreamed of. He’s pulled on the red shirt at The Valley and he’s stood on the touchline managing the club he come through at. I’ve been mesmerised by how he’s picked up a broken team with a massive divide between the players and staff with the owners and with the fans and with absolutely zero backing he got the club promoted into the Championship. This season has been a rollercoaster. We’ve had ups and downs and it looks an uphill struggle given the strength of the league and the latest goings on that we’ll be at this level next season. On Saturday I did turn. I thought that Bowyer had run his cause. That he was finished. That we should part with him. Now, understanding that he’s gone from working for one circus, he’s gone to working with another circus and I want to take back my desire to see him leave. Given whats likely been going on day-to-day at the minute, Lee is fighting a fire with a shot glass of water.

Like I said there never was one and the £30k wage bollocks was also a lie. Exactly, it is why everyone should be wary of this statement. Dig deep enough and holes start appearing. I have been warning everyone on here to not be taken in by the Manc mouthpiece for weeks. Look he saw a big gap in the market to be popular by doing everything that RD didn't knowing he would become an overnight success. He had to because that's all he had. He played the charm offensive card relying on a campaign of flattery, friendliness, and cajolement designed to achieve the support of fans and let's be honest many were suckered into it while I was falling over myself trying to guard you all against it. Things have got nasty on here at times recently because that has been a mix of my frustration of not being able to say anything and others talking absolute rubbish saying what they had already bought and what their future plans were. Am I reveling in it tonight, not a chance because the bastard raised all of our hopes and now has the audacity to play the victim card. I've never liked Nimer, he's come across all along as a bit of a slime ball and I hope that he and Southall cut each other's throats when all is said and done because there is just no place in football and especially at out club for the low lives that they are.

Nimer hitting back basically saying Southall's accusation that he ha snot showed the EFL proof of funds is a lie. Surely if he had the official takeover would've been announced by EFL? I really don't know who to believe but Southall wouldn't put lies in the domain when progressing a defamation case surely?

I don't care whether Southall or 'His Excellency' is the bigger villain, they are both guilty of wrecking everything. Their social media spat is beneath pathetic.
Leaving it for tonight now. This evening could not get any worse as far as being a Charlton fan is concerned.

Hate to say this but if ESI have a legal obligation to buy certain assets and instead walk away, breaching contract, plus Coronavirus cancelling matches or playing with no matchday revenue plus no money to maneuver while in courts, this could quick degenerate into a "liquidation" event. Forget relegation. This could be Bury, and fast.

You're absolutely right, the economy is shot, no investors are on the buy and unless we have liquidity to last until this blows over which nobody can be sure of... Our perfect club will be going under.

One last parting thought for tonight, a personal humiliation really.
"We got Roland out"
"We've got our Charlton back"
"We're f**king rich"
"There's only one Matty Southall"
Some members described the above chants as cringeworthy at the time, and I was dumb and sentimental enough to defend the fans who sang them. Hurts just to read them back now.
I wanted to trust the supposed new owners. Even when events and information began not to add up, I didn't want to believe the whole thing was phoney. I hoped that things were basically OK. Don't think I'll ever trust again.

Twats.... the lot of them...including the vandals and the unmanageable twats. Well we may be unmanageable soon as there’ll be nothing to manage. Our hope now is that one of the twats has a benevolent heart. Ffs Fingers crossed this gets sorted out soon and relegation may be inevitable now.
