I just though that this young man deserved a thread of his own. What a revelation he has been so far, I know that it’s early days still, but his contribution so far has been superb.
Considering it’s his first experience in senior football, he has hit the ground running as they say, and has fitted into the team and the way we play seamlessly.
Another gem found and successfully brought to the club by SG and LB, he’s hard working, gives 100% and is very talented. i never thought that I would say this, but up until now, I haven’t missed Aribo at all, this kid is quality already.

I’ve got a Twitter poll going on the best Charlton player in the first 5 games.
Conor Gallagher is currently leading it, ahead of Lockyer & Williams.

Yes I agree, quality signing. I wonder who else was trying to get him?

Gallagher has been excellent no doubt about it. What surprises me the most is that he’s played every game start to finish (correct me if I’m wrong) and appears to be an integral part of Bowyers plan for the season. That may change. Cullen is the best player we have currently imo but Gallagher is up there with him. Shame they aren’t our players.

He was always going to be good- where he comes from and the regard they hold him in dictated this. But how quickly he’s settled, how confident and cool he is under pressure..... wow, this lad is going to be GREAT. Well done getting him in!

I wonder if CG will be rested sometimes, it’s a long season and LB will want to look after him properly. Also we have enough players to rotate sometimes and allow players to rest minor injuries when they occur..
We still have Kayal to come into the squad yet, which will give LB even more options.

As a young player thought he might have been rested yesterday, glad he wasn't. We have a mentality where loan players give as much of a toss as contracted players. Long may it continue and well done LB and JJ.

Hence the reason, this passionless fan has no objection to loan players. Connor took that goal like a seasoned pro, I would rather have the likes of him than players like Ajose on 3 year deals..

I've got a mate who's a Chelsea fan and I spoke to him about Gallagher after we'd announced we'd signed him on loan. He said he was very highly rated but was unlikely to get a chance at Chelsea this early in the Lampard reign. Although he said he hasn't seen loads of him, he said that he definitely has something about him, just needs an opportunity and The Championship would be perfect for him.
I'd say that was pretty spot on at the moment. There are a lot of similarities between Gallagher and Lampard when they're in the penalty area. Gallagher is cool and composed and ruthless in front of goal just like Lampard. Experience will improve him all round game and improve his decision making, but I think the kid will be a top player.

Nick I agree in theory to your post however , I’d like to think Conor is “cool and composed and ruthless in front of goal” just like Bowyer... 😀

If you watch a replay of the goal after listening to the Bowyer post match interview then you see things in a different light. First off Bows and the scouts identified that their centre backs play with some distance between them... and then when Williams wins the tackle, starts dribbling, Taylor makes a diagonal run to the wing pulling his marker even wider leaving a big gap for Gallagher to run into.
Point is that Bows has been coaching our midfield for two years now and is always on at them to leave their opposite number behind and make a run into their box. So when he and Gallen recruit players such as Gallagher, Williams, Cullen, Kayal and Field, it's clear they have a plan about how to play, what they want and how to caoch that into reality.
It is fortunate that we can access EPL loans and thus leave the likes of Ajose back in the past where they belong.

Conor Gallagher came on as a substitute (for Naby Sarr) in the 66th minute against Blackburn Rovers on August 3rd. However he has started all of Charlton's last four league games and has not been substituted himself.

It just builds the feeling amongst the fans that the management team know exactly what they want the team to do and unerringly get the right players in. A far cry from Slade's sheer dullness, or Robbo trying to recreate hus team at MK Dons. Gallagher has slotted in beautifully, and seems as implicated as all the permanent players.

Chelsea fans have been raving about Conor Gallagher on Twitter.
He’s a different type of player to Aribo, but has been no less influential for us so far.
Best attributes ...a great engine, two footed....and a very composed finisher.

Imo we have replaced Aribo with a much better player. Shhhhhh! Don't let Roland see that or he might sell everyone and comprise our team entirely of loans!

Stop the season now, and Conor is our POTY.
I’ve seen every game so far, and Gallagher has been our stand out performer IMO. He’s an 8/10 at this level every week, and very often more.
I wonder if he is this season’s Mason Mount or Harvey Barnes ?

Good read, thanks hhd , he comes across as a very level headed, mature and likeable young man for his young age.

I wonder if he is this season’s Mason Mount or Harvey Barnes ? Before the season started there were some who doubted not just wisdom but sanity of allowing so many of the 14 who won at Wembley to either leave or contemplate going. A midfield of Cullen, Williams, Pratley and Gallagher has proven itself at this level and that goal at Fulham was a tad special. This is not to say that errors have not been made or risks not taken... but we have arrived as either a mid-table club or bottom six strugglers without inflating the wage budget to £20M let alone £30M... and without spending £10M on Krystian Bielik... who might not be fit on Saturday. Without a doubt our squad is short of both depth and talent and that needs fixing in January... but we are far better placed than our fellow travellers, Luton and Barnsley. And perhaps our loans from Chelsea and West Ham will take a view that we need to deliver away at Millwall - for sure the management will take that view as will Taylor if fit. In short, Gallagher is our player of the season to date... and we need to keep the team spirit going, plus add talent in the New Year

what moves me about Conor putting aside his skills is his courage, his commitment, his concentration and his control. He plays every match as if were his last. His engine is extraordinary his energy hardly flags and he always seems available for the pass. He is already a high calibre attacking midfielder, he has the qualities to be a great one in the style of Bryan Robson. We are fortunate to be part of his ambition.
We have so many players that make us shout and scream and stamp our feet: Taylor, Phillips, Williams, Cullen, Lockyear, Solly and a team that plays with heart . Roll on Saturday!
