It’s the risk you take as a player when you move clubs. Dijksteel is far from the complete player and has limited first team experience especially in a position which is quite new to him at league one level and now has to try to cut it at Championship level. With the wages comes expectation and unfortunately that was his choice. He’ll need to get his head down and work extremely hard to adapt to his new surroundings and expectancy. I wish him luck but hope Jonny makes him fall on his ass when we meet them in December!!

He’s gone into a side with higher expectations, which is underperforming. It won’t be easy for him

Middlesbrough fans have different expectation levels to most Charlton supporters.
Most of us will be happy if our team avoids relegation this season. Even the few who have expressed more ambition than that are unlikely to be over-critical if Lee Bowyer cannot get CAFC into the play-offs or the top half of the table come next May.
Relegation has never entered the minds of 'Boro supporters. They want and expect a Premier League promotion campaign. If their Club isn't in the top 4 in nine months time many of them will be demanding new management.
That's the step Dijksteel has taken. He's a big boy now. He should be able to cope with the pressure.

It seems that Middlesborough fans have expected a top class Championship full back from the word go and in that, they are going to be disappointed. As for Dijksteel, this criticism will either make him (in the long term) or break him.

Dijksteel is Not a full back, he is a converted midfielder. Still has an awful lot to learn.

There will be no hiding place and like others have rightly said, huge salaries come with huge expectations... I suppose if it doesnt work out, he still has three years of a large salary...

Bit early for that isn’t it! Oh well. They expect up there. And they ain't been getting. Agree with the big bucks comments. He will have to perform.

Agree with all of the above tbh. It is a bit harsh to judge him yet, but he went there with a lot of hype, and the borough fans probably had too high expectations of him.
He is a good player with the potential to get better, but he is far from perfect and the finished article, as Charlton fans know. Woodgate must have watched him often enough to see his strengths and weaknesses.
I expect he will rise to the challenge, and hope he is given the chance by the fans there. If not, the money will be of some consolation I’m sure, but maybe a lesson to other young players who are in too much of a hurry to leave us. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

A ludicrous over reaction from fans who support a club on a downward spiral.

BBC reporting that Dijksteel has signed a new four and a half year deal at Middlesbrough with Warnock praising his hard work and overall improvement to his game. Pleased for the lad, hope he does well.

Good luck to him. He waited, very patiently, for a chance with us then when he got it with both hands. It sounds like he has done the same at Middlesbrough.
