Today's Daily Mail reports it as a serious rib injury -- Thoughts with you Charlotte. Speedy recovery.

Broken ribs and possible punctured lung which may have collapsed.

From what I heard, which may be rubbish, there was no ambulance on duty at the game - seems odd.

Let's hope for a quick and full recovery. I was pleased when Charlton reinstated the Women's game, which is coming on leaps and bounds.

I fully agree with the good wishes expressed regarding her injury and for her to have a speedy recovery. I’ve read separately that (a) Charlton had no oxygen available and had to rely on Uniteds’ which apparently ran out before the ambulance arrived and (b) that the FA Women’s Championship has thorough match day medical requirements. I have no idea what they are, but one has to hope and expect that the women have at their disposal medical support as good as the men get and if not, they should. I don’t wish to knock the club but I hope they haven’t failed on this occasion. As a minimum St John’s Ambulance attendance perhaps.

Did hear a member of the Manchester United medical team say really bad injury chest/lung. Fortunately injury does appear not as severe as initially thought, medical teams deserve a lot of credit for this.

Good to read that she has now left hospital , but I agree that it is worrying that we had to use the Man Utd teams oxygen in an emergency situation. That’s something that needs to be addressed urgently , as this could’ve been far more serous .

This article from today’s Times covers what happened. Not very good, as others have already said. Still, the most important thing is that the player is OK.

Glad to hear that Charlotte is already on the road to recovery. Have to admit thought that the stories about the lack of oxygen and ambulance are quite worrying.

Just another rumour re lack of Charlton oxygen -- No game is allowed to start if guidelines on medical requirements are not met. Oxygen is high on that list.

Simply quoting a report from Talksport that I read yesterday SV (available via this site on the other Charlton news thread - if I knew how to copy a link, I would. If the report proves to be incorrect, and I hope it is, then apologies for mentioning it. But Mundell did post a link to an Independant report that said the same. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

A pretty poor show if there wasn't oxygen in place. I can say that because as long as nobody knows about the mistakes I've made in my life, I can remain sanctimonious and condemn the world and it's mother from my lofty perch.

Glad to hear that Charlotte is already on the road to recovery. Have to admit thought that the stories about the lack of oxygen and ambulance are quite worrying. If all football matches with the average crowds CAFC Women have require a ambulance in attendance there would be none available for other emergencies on a Saturday, add in rugby etc and we would require minimal 5 figures countrywide to cover sporting events alone. If both teams are required to have oxygen by the rules and one didn't then the match should not have started, would suggest only 1 required. Also required is a stretcher, CAFCW had one, didn't see that MU had one. Fortunately this type of injury is rare and numerous medical personnel were on hand to provide expert treatment, this would not have been available at 99% of matches.

Just to set the record straight, unfortunately not a rumour about no oxygen the BBC reports. And I don’t get any pleasure in so doing.

If that is what they said then I stand corrected -- One has to wonder about pre match checks from officials and the medical staff of the women's team for allowing that to happen.

Reading the BBC report it seems that oxygen is not required pitch side below the league Charlton Ladies now play in. But the club has now hosted 9 home games including friendlies in their current league and all of them should have had a medical team with oxygen. I fear fines, but I sense heads rolling.?
