Totally unplayable at this level, his performance yesterday was as good I have ever seen from a striker wearing a Charlton shirt.
He has everything. Vision, strength, speed, hold up play and of course his goals.
He won't be sold but make no mistake about it, he is playing in the wrong division.

Very skilful feet too, as demonstrated yesterday.

I have to say, that I was not impressed with Maja at all the other week. If someone offers the Black Cats £10m for him, they should bite their hands off. Lyle is worth much more on the evidence that I have seen.

Many of our first XI could hold their own in the next division up, as discussed on the midfield thread. And we haven't spent millions to arrive here from where we were two years ago. Two decent keepers, four top central defenders, etc. etc.
What's important is that we keep winning and that Gallen is given the budget to get the right players extended. If CAFC climbs at the same rate as the best of our squad, whilst releasing weaker players then we could be in a very good place, very quickly!

Taylor is one of the most surprisingly awesome signings we have ever made. We all had an inkling he would be good, and wondered what he had been doing all these years to have him playing at this level, but I for one am astonished at how good he is. There are not many like him with such a combination of skills, all to a good level, plus his craftiness, and his general attitude as a team footballer. Skill level. Good to very good. Pace. Good. Heading. Good to very good. Battling his marker. Very good to excellent. Team play. Good.
And so on. He doesn't seem to be average at anything.
You could argue that the first ten games of Ahmed Kashi had the same kind of wonderment, But I can't remember a new signing, who arrived at the club and has instantly become the Alpha one.
Karlan Grant is a different player, but if Lyall can blossom late, then certainly Karlan can, as we see so often with loads of players.
But Taylor, from what I saw of Maja the other day he was good, but right now Taylor is better by a decent half-length.

Yep! ...... and hopefully he will be playing at VFR in August in tier 2 👍

I absolutely love Lyle, he's a class act that has matured into a fantastic player. But... let's remember that Maja is 20 and Lyle will be 29 this year. With Maja's fee you're paying for a player that has at least 10 years left in the tank, is almost guaranteed to get fitter, stronger, better. With the exception of Diego Forlan and Cristiano Ronaldo, I can't think of many players that continue to improve after 29.

I hear the Leicester lad's diving could still do with some improvement though... It's a good point you make about the age difference though. Taylor is right in his prime now, but (and no disrespect intended) he will be fortunate if he plays such a vital role for more than another two seasons, three at the very most.

Haha, yes Vardy is another good example. But these players are the exception and not the rule. We also have to factor in that Taylor is on a relatively short term contract. He'll be a free agent next summer which further diminishes his market value. If we were to miss out on promotion this season, he would be unlikely to sign a contract extension and we'd be forced to consider selling him in the summer. But everyone knows that's not happening because we're on our way to the championship!
