Afternoon all, Calling in from the Dark Side (CL). Those of you that read CL may have seen my thread hawking for sponsorship money already. Trying to reach out to as many addicks as possible hence this post. I am riding from Lands End to John O'Groats in August next year. My chosen charity is Parkinson's UK - my mum has suffered with it for a number of years so it's a charity close to my heart. Anyone who feels they can make a donation (however small) please follow the link below. TBH the fund raising is more daunting than the ride at present! Cheers www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Tim-Chick2

Can I call on as many of you as possible please to give to this worthy cause, it takes two minutes and as clem says it is going to a very worthy cause.
Every penny counts so even it's a couple of quid.

This forum disappoints me sometimes, embarrasses me even.
How people cannot give a couple of quid is beyond me, all take no give.
I really need to have a think about what the fuck I am doing giving my free time to so many tight arses.

I think this post (at least for me) got lost on saturday with the usual jump in new threads before/after the game.

You have absolutely no idea how much people may be committed to giving (a lot) to other charities and are unable to respond to every other request for money that comes along, much as they might admire the cause and the people who are trying to raise it. Perhaps you have bottomless pockets, not everyone does.

People give what they can when they can to their chosen charity -- 99% of causes are worthwhile -- but you can't give to all.
Shaming and swearing at people into giving is not the best way of collecting I have found when working for my chosen charity.

Don't want this to turn into a row people. If you can afford something great, if you can't I am not pressuring people. Its a huge target to hit, so I've no option but to reach out to people.
For anyone interested, you can now text donations as well. Send TCLJ74 to 70700 followed by £10 (or what amount you choose)
Thanks, for the additional donations. Much appreciated.

I'm not shaming anyone I'm just saying that surely to God people can give a couple of quid, a pound even. 50 of us do that and it's soon mounts up. Apologies for the rant but I just find it disappointing. By the way I haven't got bottomless pockets, just a big heart.

Bumping this up.
Have just passed the £600 mark, but still a long way to go.
Anything people can contribute would be warmly received.

Have just donated. Best of luck with it, Tim. We lost my granddad to Parkinson's amongst other things, so I know what a worthy cause this is.

Hi All, Another bump. Am up to £750, but a long way to go. Fund raising efforts are now being upped as is the training schedule. £1 from everyone on this site would be an amazing boost to the coffers. Any help people can offer would be hugely welcome. Cheers www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Tim-Chick2

Another shameless bump. Fund raising is now up to £1460.00. £440.00 to go.
I know a few of you have donated already and I'm really grateful.
I have to raise another £140.00 by next Friday to ensure I keep my place on the event.
If any of you would like to help me towards that target it would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

This is now getting very real. Just over a week till the off. This time next week I will be on a train to Penzance. I need £190.00 to hit my target of £1900 raised for the good people at Parkinson's UK. If anyone fancies adding a few quid, please do so. Would be great to hit the target before I leave. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tim-chick2

Morning All,
Writing from a hotel room in Inverness. Finished yesterday morning and were bused back here in the afternoon.
Toughest thing I have ever done. Weather in Scotland has been horrendous with constant torrential rain.
A quick thank you to all those who sponsored me. Running total is £2450 and still rising.
If anyone wants to chuck in a last minute quid or two feel free to do so.
Cheers.

Well done Clem.
I know how you feel as I myself completed a walking challenge last week 100km from Eastbourne to Arundel.
It's tough going but it gives you a great sense of achievement afterwards.
It's good to see you're over your target.
