Graham Potter - Ostersunds manager. The former Birmingham City full-back took over at the club in 2010, when they were in the fourth tier of Swedish football, taking them through the leagues and into Europe. I said the same thing on here after the Shrewsbury game and even told Richard Murray to keep an eye on him before that same game. Since then they have won at Arsenal in the Europa League, this after only being formed in 1996, Potter went there in 2010 while they were still a fourth division club. I know I have posted this on another thread but feels it deserves a thread of it's own. www.si.com/soccer/2018/02/14/how-graham-potter-orchestrated-rise-arsenals-europa-league-foes-ostersunds-fk

You've got to be off your rocker if you think that a manager with Champions League experience is:
1. Coming anywhere near this clown car of a club 2. Not going to get offers from top clubs all over England
Let's live in the real world. The managerial roundabout that we're on is tedious enough without the bleary-eyed idealism.
Start recruitment now but let Bowyer and Jacko take charge until the end of the season. No rush decisions.

Potter would sink at our club. Too big a task. He’s a one fit only like Eddie Howe at Bournemouth.

Told you we should have gone for him.

Graham Potter expected to be named Swansea City manager tomorrow. Told you we should have gone for him. Indeed. An excellent call. Potter is exactly the kind of left field appointment I’d hope AFC would be looking to make. Far more ambitious, whether it works out for Swansea or not, than us appointing Lee Bowyer, for example.

Four years have gone by since I started this thread. You said you were taking a breather from posting. Rubbish idea. Potter would never make it in England.

I am going to wind the clock back five years and call for Potter to be appointed if we can afford him.
Five years is a long time in football. At the time of creating this thread I commented on what an amazing job Potter was doing at Ostersunds in Sweden having taken them all the way to the first division.
The rest is history and just how he is out of work is beyond me. He was a victim of his own success, Chelsea were too big for him but he transformed Brighton and may just have to drop down a level or two to prove himself again.
If there is one man we should be pushing the boat out for it's him. I think we would be born again under his guidance.

He’s not even considered in the odds. I think he’d be looking at Championship minimum.

Would be a statement he would be great but he wouldn’t look at us as a viable option surely even for big money which he doesn’t need after Chelsea pay off.

The problem with attempting to attract any manager who has failed in the Premier League is landing them... and then retaining them should a bigger club come looking.
Then again perhaps best to have a manager who's in demand!

I could be wrong but I have a feeling that any severance pay from Chelsea would be effected if he took another job. That might dissuade him from taking any job for a while - especially considering how ill he looked by the end of his reign at Chelsea.

Sorry, I know it looks like I'm looking for an argument but fuck me this is too funny.

Your contribution on here is tiresome, plenty of other forums that would welcome you with open arms given your opinion of me and the owners of the football club. I said if Potter is willing to talk and get back into football with a lower league club then let's at least ask the question. It would have been such a ridiculous question five years ago so I don't see why now. Ok he's managed Brighton and Chelsea but the last time he looked he isn't managing anyone. We need a manager and he's out of work. Cost nothing to ask.

I'm not sure what offended you so much, I just found the idea of Graham Potter joining a League One side pretty funny, that's all. No personals. I can only apologise that my contribution doesn't meet standard, but then I wouldn't expect it to as it does align with the majority.

Let’s be realistic about how much money we’ve got. If we seem unwilling to spend £1m on a striker, we’re not going to spend that in wages on a manager who would be in the mix for a Premier League job.
