Well we have done it once with Paddy Mac so how about Richard Stearman a quality defender and only 20? Matty Fryatt is worth a shout too, although I fear Pards may renew his interest in Simon Clemence! A couple of seasons ago maybe a yes but surely not now too injury prone.
Wonder how Paddy feels tonight, the right career move for him after all and what about Martin Allen, I bet he had a wry smile on his face yesterday!

Are you suggesting that "Paddy Mac" is a good signing? McCarthy is a waste of space that should be sent packing back to Leicester or anywhere that will have him. If that is the standard of player Leicester have on offer then my advice to Pards is..stay well clear!

To be honest erik I think Paddy has been one of our better players this season.
Ok he has had a wobble in the passed few games but others have been wobbling all season.
To be fair to the guy he was frozen out early on but didn't sulk and start throwing his toys, he kept his head down and waited for his opportunity which in my opinion he took with both hands when it came along.

I think that just highlights how poor we have been this season. Paddy McCarthy will never make a quality centre half, he has the wrong build, is too slow and cannot read the game. I've never criticised his attitude, that is not in question and neither is his commitment and he could well make a reasonable lower division player but he is not up to the required standard of Charlton Athletic

eric, I have no dispute with your views at all mate but to be fair there are at least half a dozen of them who are not up to the required standard of Charlton Athletic.

Erik. I thought Paddy and Bougherra were spot on yesterday. Including a couple of brilliant tackles by Paddy. Even when Covetry had there one purple patch in the 2nd half. Or didn't you go?

For me Paddy was poor first half, seemed to lose every header to Best, but very good in the 2nd - winning headers and making takles like you say.
Unfortunately we've got quite a few players (basically the defence that played yesterday) that are quite capable of playing well in patches but are equally capable of having a mare and making a balls up of something.
