While I can understand the idea DFT I have always found it difficult to understand why the memorials we already have and want to have further need to be in an area where he was based?
Surely a memorial should be erected closer to where he is from, the place he was born and the town or City where his family and loved one's still live today?

They normally place a memorial at the scene, Yvonne Fletcher as an example. It'd be fitting as Woolwich is an army town.

Well better late than never Wiggy - they got there in the end. There is a nice plaque for him in the Woolwich Town Hall - it’s in a protected security area as the council were concerned that it could be vandalised. Maybe the memorial tree will require a police guard given that there are some strange people out there.

Great news, although I think they gave in to public pressure rather than choosing to erect it willingly!
