how can he just walk away after all those years??
we all feel crap about this season, but life goes on, there's always the next game, the next season, the next manager etc....
how can you be a long term Charlton fan and not have hope?

As quickly as things go tyts -up things can be all sweetness and light. It's been just about the worst season I can remember as far as dissapointment goes but I'll 'always' be an Addick..in sickness or in health for better or for worse...till death do us part!

I understand his frustration and everybody has their breaking points, but I find he has overstated his case. This is a too well crafted rant to ring totally true to me. There will be those who stop going but I defy anybody to stop supporting the team that has given them so much over the years, good or bad.
I presume he is trying to send a message to the club to sort things out. I wonder if things do turn around if he won't creep back unnoticed. I bet he does.
Charlton til I die!!

When we have got players like Paddy McCarthy playing regularly it is enough to make anyone want to pack it in. I won't buy a season ticket if McCarthy is still here next season

Very sad post, but you have to agree that after the worst season seen by many of us "old 'uns", the time has come to take stock on where we stand, many in the retired ranks spend their money on household bills and footy, take away the enjoyment of the match and we will become TV watchers on match days and boring our families about what it used to be like at The Valley
A few questions:-
Why did Mr Varney quit or was he pushed? Why did we appoint Pardew, surely a club as well run as Charlton would have had managers queing for the post? Why Parky, apart from being Pardew's mate does he really have any input into training sessions? if so what? Will the Board sanction another round of useless signings? Etc.,

We've all felt like that at one time. Expectations were high and I for one thought we would go straight back up. We need some good early signings to get us excited and some of the rubbish and there is a lot, must be got rid of. If we can get off to a good start then people like David Shepard will come back. I can understand him though

Why did Mr Varney quit or was he pushed?
- He quit
Why did we appoint Pardew, surely a club as well run as Charlton would have had managers queing for the post?
- No there weren't we interviewed some 20 or so candidates, our preferred one was Billy Davies but he turned us down and went to Derby. Dowie was the next choice - he was sacked mainly for off the field stuff to do with Jordan and Pardew became available - a former player and a man who had steered Wetsham to promotion and the Cup final in successive seasons
Why Parky, apart from being Pardew's mate does he really have any input into training sessions? If so what?
- he worked with Pardew at Reading and had managerial success in his own right at Colchester. I imagine he takes some of the training. Why wouldn't he as its his job? Will the Board sanction another round of useless signings? Etc.,
- nobody sets out to sign useless players. Not all the signings were poor. Sodje and Mills on loan for example. Some of those who were signed last season like Racon, and Moo2, will feature more next season. ZZ did well, so did Weaver. Semedo did as well especially in the first half of the season. McCarthy had some decent performances, Iwelumo was our top scorer.
I'd rather look at some of the players he didn't sign who failed to perform like Thomas, Fortune, Ambrose, and Sam whose form was very patchy.

Re: A powerful thread from an emotional fan, he makes some good points, but I'm sorry, I have no sympathy with him. When I was growing up we were pants most of the time, and the pressure to support someone else from my friends was unbearable - but I didn't buckle. I don't care how cr*p we are, I'd give my right arm to be able to get down to the Valley regularly again, but I can't because my family comes first, and I couldn't afford to buy a season ticket without seeing them go without. Of course, you can argue I shouldn't have had a family - but that's my decision and no-one else's business. As far as I'm concerned, the guy that posted that thread can't be half the fan he makes out he is, otherwise he wouldn't be able to stop going to the matches for such a trivial set of reasons. 'Charlton Till I Die' is how the song goes isn't it? Wake up, bud. The ticket is wasted on him. Give it to someone with LOYALTY that WANTS to watch Charlton and DESERVES IT. I just wish I could afford it

Yes a very frustrating season on all fronts - if only Pards new his best 11 or best 22 even. However, the tide may change next season - the scum were in the relegation places when Warnock signed up so some decisive management of a smaller and more focused squad could do the trick. Pleased to see Varney and Gray up top - they made Big Chris look very slow and very predictable. I for one will be there in August - pain is part of the season ticket surely?
