Major step forward if this turns out to be the case.

Interesting - he seems to be en vogue at the moment and gets linked with pretty much every available job in England - sooner or later someone's going to give him a go.

I heard this today myself. whilst Hoddle would bring more of an attacking style of play, he hasn't managed in ages.
Surely theres a better manager out there ??

" The player Glenn Hoddle might have been a scion of the beautiful game. As a manager his style is all about keeping things tight. As a Wolves fan I experienced this first hand. In the lower leagues there is no reason for a team such as Wolves to be afraid of having a go against teams at home. At the Molineux Glenn Hoddle played a 38 year old Paul Ince and Seyi Olofinjana as joint defensive midfielders. For those of you who never saw Paul Ince in the later stages of his illustrious career lets just say he wasn’t the most mobile of players and Olofinjana made him look like the roadrunner. Hoddle sat these two guys in ten yards in front of the back four and they didn’t move. Predictably Wolves drew 34 of his 76 games in charge or 44.7%. I understand that Hoddle didn’t have the best tools at Wolves but he could have constructed a team with more attacking threat if that was what he believed in." www.football.co.uk/tottenham_hotspur/why_glenn_hoddle_would_be_a_disaster_for_spurs_rss4534667.shtmlAnother Chris Powell??

Can't see Hoddle coming to Saarf London, but can see him being the next QPR manager when Harry moves back to West Ham after big Sam is shown the door.

Was against a change of manager under the old regime, as if they had got rid of Powell they would have merely seen it as a way to save money and appointed Dyer. But Hoddle would be a quality appointment and if it happens every right-thinking CAFC fan would get behind him.

I don't understand why the English press seem obsessed about getting Hoddle a new job, He hasn't won anything as a manager. His last job was in 2006! 8 years ago where he managed to lead Wolves to a 7th placed finish 8 points behind play offs! CP got us closer to playoffs last season.

Never thought much of his managerial skills, so I hope he doesn't come to SE7. A step backward in my opinion.

Two reasons why this won't happen.
1. His wage demands
2. His non PC views on certain subjects will have our Cardigan militia reaching for their phones to ring their CAST reps, aghast.

Vol his views wasn't just non PC they were hurtful to disabled people (for anyone unaware he reportedly said that he believed that the disabled, and others, are being punished for sins in a former life) i have a disabled friend who hates the guy and wouldn't attend CAFC with me any more if he was appointed.

He has his own coaching school in Spain and probably the best England manager ever !Before he went mad with Mrs Drury!.Thats the past so im sure hes regretted saying that so perhaps give him a chance in the top flight he will get Charlton playing the right way and thats defending from the back and working as a team!

Another silly post. Best England manager ever come on Jonathan please think before you type, I know it's about opinions but what on earth are you basing that on? The late Bobby Robson runs rings around him.

His lack of elequence did the damage as they were not his actual thoughts and he has since apologized. Ben Hayes (Henry Irving) suggested that I called Downs syndrome children retards (CL screenshot available) although he knows I raise money for a DS charity...so is it true that I am a complete arsehole? The guy apologised...accept his apology or carry your anger around for the rest of your life...your choice. ps. I'd love him at Charlton.

Could be Reams but Im just speaking when I speak to players in the game who all say exactly what I have said above -I know Robson was good but I think we did start to play good football under Hoddle.

I remember seeing it and then it was edited. I remember because I posted up a picture of "Busted" after it. Remember? Not sure what context you used the word in, but it was definitely there one minute and gone the next. Is that what led to you getting banned? (serious question - not fishing)

(serious question - not fishing) Serious answer: I was trying to save kentaddicks arse because he used the word retards. I worded my post wrong which made me look like a dickhead but I changed it within seconds. Henry posted as I was editing so many were confused. ps. I have cell damage from pneumonia many years ago which has seriously effected my reading and writing skills. Because of this my gf usually checks what I write, but she wasn't about on this occasion. The fact that I edited my own post within seconds because it looked offensive hopefully suggests that I'm not a bad person. It is true that I raise money for DS and am willing to show you proof of this. I think I got banned because Henry was leaping on nearly every one of my posts but I was ignoring him. AFKA to his credit left my "Olive branch" post up for Henry to reply to. Unfortunately Henry then descended into telling other members not to talk to me because I was a troll, and unbelievably a few members done what he told them. I think AFKA banned me to protect Henry from himself, and as I've said before that is a big sacrifice and Ben should appreciate what a faithful friend Dan has been and still is. ps. my post wasnt related to DS children...Henry invented that, mainly because he's a fucking liar and always has been. pps. The CL mods also did a very clever and selective job of removing Henry's manic rantings from that thread to make me look bad....Unfortunately for them nobody on CL can ever remember an abusive post from my good self.

Literally - and I mean literally - every thread on ITTV seems to turn into a discussion about CL.
Anyway, back to the subject.
Hoddle's beliefs don't particularly worry me, I think he was fitted up by the media (happy to be proved wrong) but the amount of time he's been out of management at a decent level does.
Apparently Jol is only 12/1 which is incredibly short given that there isn't actually a vacancy to fill at the moment.
