Is because I think it is January and he is playing because the club want to put him in the shop window.
I have read for a couple of weeks now that his inclusion is not justified, last night I saw it for myself and agree with the doubters, he is a good player for his age but is being used for the wrong reasons and it is unbalancing the midfield especially when Bailey, so effective when moved inside has now been pushed back out wide to accomodate a player who on last night's evidence should not be in the starting 11.
Things must change for Saturday, I want to see Racon or Spring brought in because they bring more to the table and no more than a win will do, we cannot afford to have passengers in the side and Shelvey is one.

Compare him to Lee Bowyer when he was around Shelveys age or is that being a bit harsh.

Agreed Spring or racon need a start either will do.
I know he is only 17 and still has a lot to learn but the last 2 games he has been woeful and if anyone says people forget he was great the week before MOM or whatever, so what that does not help what happened the last 2 games.
If they are playing him just to put him in the shop window its back firing big time any scouts who have heard the hype would go away very miffed.
I know the lad is going to go on to bigger and better things but we need him to learn more on the training ground before getting a regular spot in the side.
Dont rush him

Bailey did play central last night Reams. Shelvey played first half on the left and then was given a free role for the first 20 mins of the second half. Played just in front of Bailey once Wagstaff came on.
team for saturday Elliot Richardson Basey Sodje Llera Wagstaff Bailey Racon Samedo Mooney Burton

After last two displays Burton and Semedo should be dropped as well, pitiful from both of them

Wagstaff instead of Sam! - No way, far too lightweight for me. Sam was one of our better players last night. As much as I would like to see Racon back in the team, the apparent reason he was dropped was because of his refusal to play on the left!

As I'ved already said, strange how people see the game differently! On several occassions he set up Mooney with good chances and was supplying plenty of crosses into the box. I'm not saying he was great but certainly one of our better players. To say he was rubbish is well OTT!

Burton didn't have a great game by his recent standards, but he's still the best striker at the club, so he has to play. I thought Semedo did alright - at least he puts his foot in and has some positional sense.
Sam did well on a few occasions and put the ball into the right areas, but we were let down by a lack of players in the box, or crappy finishing.
Our priorities have to be a left winger and a decent striker, but i fear we're stuck with the current crop.
Dailly hasn't been as good over the last couple of games, but you can't expect a 36-year-old to play every game without it starting to impact on his performance.

We looked in trouble all over the pitch last night I lost count of the number of players who went running down the left flank I think even Dailley had a go at one stage !!
Going forward we had nobody in the box, Mooney and Burton were like strangers and the former kept coming far too deep meaning that at times Bailey was the furthest forward in support of Burton which had an adverse effect as Semedo was left exposed in midfield.
The biggest problem at the moment is Youga's absence we miss him badly as there is nothing down the left at all where as before his injury Youga would run the over lap all day down the flank causing havoc, come to think of it Richardson used to do the same thing with Sam but as Sam has forgotten how to take his man on down the wing Richardson is the furthest forward now with Sam nowhere to be seen.
We have lost our shape and organisation and it nees to get straightened out very quickly.

Well from where I was sitting jonjo was out of his depth and racon or spring back in with bailley back out wide where he scored so many goals. Lloyd Sam was mentally very weak and his body language piss poor so waggy should feature. It's Dailly and loony Sam at the back and up front mooney very weak and constantly offside whilst mckenzie had great control and surprisingly look in the air so he should partner Burton.
Still alot of games to play!!!

the above shows what contrast of opinions Football & sport in general shows up. All valid in their own right. My own opinion is that Sam didnt have a good game on tuesday as he never takes the full back on. Once he does then he produces good crosses. Samedo, I can see why he was taken off as we needed the win but i am always concerned if hes not on the pitch because I believe he does a lot of things very quietly. Burton, playing and feeding on scraps but thought he and mooney are our best front 2 combination as Mooney will do his running. Dailly has shown his age in the last few games and unless he gets this back I would assume Sodje would come in for him, although Llera is prone to the odd amazingly unforced error a game!!

Lloyd Sam is the best winger we have got that does create sometimes not like the left wing of the pitch. It was so stupid on Monday with our players constantly going towards the right wing becuase there was no left winger there.

Thought Sam was OK, but will always be forced inside by a decent full back. Haven't seen the TV version, but Llera looked good in possession and pretty secure for once. We did look better balanced for a while when Waggy came on the left wing, but then we started getting desperate and lumping it forward.

No good looking at the performances of individuals when as a team we look totally unconvincing at the moment.

I agree with that Reams. It was as a team we looked bad on Monday. Orient had far too much time on the ball with our midfield sitting too far back, which is usually a sign of poor confidence.
