according to the SLP
Charlton limited to loan signings
CHARLTON boss Phil Parkinson has been told he has no money to spend on recruiting new players this month.
The Addicks board met the manager on Friday to discuss the club’s policy on signings for the rest of the transfer window.
Parkinson has not spent a penny on a player since taking over from Alan Pardew 13 months ago, instead having to wheel and deal in the loan market.
And chairman Richard Murray, who along with other Addicks directors ploughed £7million into the club in September to cover running costs, has confirmed that that strategy will continue for the foreseeable future.
“The finances aren’t there to pay money for players so any activity we do see will be in the loan market,” Murray told the South London Press.

at the Q&A he spoke very openly about how difficult it was not knowing how much money he had to spend week-on-week. Looks like nothing has changed.

Don't worry, once Gold and Sullivan have their West Ham bid turned down they will buy Murray out and he can then sling his hook.

Did you hear Alex Ferguson on Gold & Sullivan. Reckoned that their old-fashioned style of running the club held Birmingham back. Only now has Macleish the resources he needs to make Birmingham a big club again.

Birmingham have landed on their feet big time (for now) by landing an owner who seems to know what he's doing and has a bit of cash.
I'd rather have Sullivan and Gold than those pricks who've taken over Pompey, or that oompa loompa Briatore at QPR. Maybe they were stretched a bit by owning a premiership club, but they certainly knew how to get a team out of the Championship.
