offit to be honest you do come across as very rose tinted and do criticise people for having an opinion, quite often sarcastically too.
My experience of Charlton fans is this, some speak their minds and have their say, others just want to be part of the "You leave our little ole Charlton alone".
People on here and many other Charlton fans in general are not as forgiving as the hardcore that have congregated on Charlton Life, they have a vast amount of members who have joined the site who dance to the tune of the pied piper so to speak, 80% of them over there know each other so if any "outsider" dare to disagree on a topic they get jumped on by somebody knowing his chums will come out and jump on the band wagon in support, they make people look small and if you are not part of the clique then you are in trouble.
This place is different, we hardly ever agree but respect what each other are saying we also speak our minds and tell it as we see it and if people have lingering doubts about certain matters down at The Valley then if the past 3 or 4 seasons are not enough to warrant them then I don't know what is.
Being an uncomfortable Charlton fan on the basis of not knowing what's around the corner season in season out is a criticism of the board which I deem a very valid one and when people moan about it they have a right to given the fact that they invest their time and money into it, not always on a weekly basis as in my case admittedly but up until a few seasons ago I missed 11 games in 5 seasons home and away.
A change in life direction has meant that Charlton are not always my first priority these days, I could still get to more games than I should but Murray and co have made it very difficult for me to cunjure up the enthusiasm to do so, I see that as throwing back 26 years of support into my face so I think I am entitled to speak out when I do, don't you.

I just don't think it's worth arguing about. When I post, I don't expect everyone to say "of course you're spot on Swordy, and we're all wrong", but my philosophy is that we're still second and not losing. To be at the top, 3 draws in a row obviously isn't a good enough return, but we COULD win every game between now and the end of the season. Likewise, we COULD lose every game. I don't hold negativity against anyone simply because over the last 4 years it's been pretty much 100% downhill... And I won't yell because someone says "We're f*cked now, we'll be relegated to League Two next season", but I think it's a bit of a jump to go that far. I take it as it comes, simple as that. And I'll try not to argue with anyone that wants the same thing that I do; because if everyone on this forum agreed with each other, I'd be bored sh*tless and go somewhere else. Love you guys!

I'm OK with Offit's points, but the way he puts them seems somewhat childish if he really is the editor of CL, which I still look at occasionally. Like Swordfish I am more of a half full sort of guy and tend to look forward to promotion at the end of this season.
And Reams as far as I can see the only thing I can really have a go at Murray for is a number of bad choices, and when you look at some of the chairman out there, I feel privileged that we have someone at the helm who is, at least a true fan. Even if he cocks up occasionally.

offit isn't the editor of CL, when I quoted it as his site I was referring to it as the one where you are most likely to find him.
It's not how often he cocks up mstone, it's the damage his mistakes have caused when he has, and 1st division football is one hell of a price to pay.

That makes a bit more sense then.
For me his biggest cock up was Les Read, all down hill from there. Otherwise you've just got to look at the number of "big clubs" in our league to see the risk of relegation from the Prem. Look at Portsmouth to see the damage that a quick and under researched sale can do. Though having met Murray only a couple of times, I still believe that he has the best interests of this club at heart, and is fully aware that he has made some errors. Let's face it who hasn't.

when you look back at the squad /players we had , where did it, or who do you hold responsible ,, just think ,, Carson , Young, Herman , Konchesky (sp) Parker , Boywer, Murphy , Bent , DiCaneo ,,, to name a few, (with spelling mistakes ! lol )

Very true. Those 6 or so games we had under him were just wasted time. Whatever we've since said about Pardew, we would have had a much better chance had he, or somebody else, come straight in after Dowie left.
I also think that our team last season was more than capable of staying up, as was shown by our form in the last 8ish games. Whether bringing Parky in (although it's since proven to be an astute move) was the right thing to do after sacking Pards, i'm still not sure. I think an outsider could have galvanised the team more than just promoting his number 2.

Biggest cockup was getting Dowie !!! Cheap option at the time now paying the price. I did suggest getting Roy Hodgson at the time before a CL poster says who would of you got then ? Hopefully the board has finally appointed a good manager in parkinson.

Parky has the makings of a long term manager, that can take us up and keep us up. A real football man, that doesn't seem in love with himself like so many managers. I don't really see us as a real Prem side, but hopefully a club that is constantly challenging at the top of the Championship.

Sorry for not responding sooner Andy old son. I gave up you see, but the fact that we haven't put in a bad performance since the last time we played has given me renewed optimism.
And no, don't think I'll "do one" just yet, if it's all the same to you.

dont be sorry , i was quite pleased you handnt posted some happy clappy 'we played well' bollox, the whole point here, is that we should not have been down to 9 men in the first place and should not be letting in 94th min goals against 10 men WHEN 4 - 3 up ! If you want a sensible reply to your posts then lay off the sarcastic shite you post , read reams reply above . oh,, seen the league today ? 3 points from 3 games, come on !

Sorry, but that's absolute rubbish. Reams, you have to learn that you can't go quoting things as FACT when they are just your opinion. Where on earth did you get the "80% of them over there know each other"? How do you know that "Charlton fans in general are not as forgiving as the hardcore that have congregated over there"? Where is the evidence of any of that??? Jesus man, it's not the gist of what you say , it's the way you say it that makes you just look foolish sometimes - and also a bit bitter if I'm honest. As for the "rose tinted" insult - for that's how it is meant after all - I just don't buy it. Just because I don't slash my writs and go ape at the first sign of trouble doesn't mean that I don't care or am not worried. I always try to look at our position in a detached and mature way - not always easy - and try not to be too up in the good times and not too down in the bad. Remind you of anyone? For those that find my posts sarcastic or childish - tough. As has been mentioned before, we don't all have to agree with everyone else's posts, do we? Or doesn't that apply to me? (Andy - yep, out of the top two now. If we push a bit harder we can force our way out of the play offs too, then after that it's plain sailing - though I think we may have left it too late for relegation this year. Chin up though, there's always next year.)

And for the record, Charlton Life is absolutely nothing to do with me - though I do post on there and take my hat off to the fellas who run it for maintaining such a good site. Also, you're most likely to find me in the pub, at work or at home - in that order - not on Charlton Life!

i can spell this, fook off, personal insults now mate, wanna meet up a dark alley and sort it out, you tosser Andy, you said "your boring" and I said you can't spell. You have then proceeded to call me a tosser and offer me out. If you think that's enough to have a fight about then I would suggest you need to have a serious think about life. If, having thought about it, you still want to meet up then I will let you know where I sit and you are more than welcome to come and try your luck at any time. I guarantee it will be something you wont forget in a hurry. And for the record, I don't know how that finger wagging smiley has appeared on my previous post because I certainly didn't put it there - not my style. However, I do find it concerning that posts can be amended and things added without anyone elses knowledge.

well , it looks like this is actually my final post , Stating that your previous post was boring is not a personal insult. You questioning my ability to spell in public on here IS personal , its also none of your business, but for your information my school years where hell in this department. Think before you post infuture ,,, or it may be met with a smack in the gob by someone not so poilte as me.

Actually Andy, pointing out your spelling mistake was just factual - you made a spelling mistake in your post having a pop at me. Calling someone "boring" is actually a much more subjective and personal remark. Anyway, I've obviously touched on a raw nerve which was clearly not my intention - how could it have been, I'm not to know about your school life - so for that I offer you my sincere apologies. Still happy to meet up if you want though. Doesn't bother me.
