From my seat in the home stand on Tuesday, in the 2nd half noticed a gaping difference in the free kicks taken, most of which were defended by The Addicks.
Every free kick to Colchester, two players stood by the ball whilst team mates moved into our area, both looked at Boothroyd in his technical area, he gave hand signals as to what he wanted, not only did the two players know where the ball was to be put, the home team knew as well.
Now, Parky's method in comparison is to leave all free kicks to a 17 year old kid who thumped the ball anywhere he wanted, seemingly without our players knowing what was going on.
With Boothroyd dictating play gave the home side a 12th man.

I thought FA rules state that you're not allowed to coach from the sidelines. Grounds for an appeal here to get the 3 points reversed! Good spot Vv!

Not a bad thought, but if we brought this up with the FA, we'd probably get deducted 3 points… Sankofa! Extra punishment for appealing against that red card... The EUFA spot we thought we earned, but for some reason wasn’t good enough that season, which they forgot to tell the board about, because they had already booked airplane seats to witness the draw. Some of us never forget!

Thought manager can direct play from inside his technical area, as was the case on Tuesday night, otherwise why have a technical area other than to stop managers walking up and down the touch line.
After all, many managers shout, scream and gesticulate to their players, with Sir Alex being number one when things are not going well for manure and who would argue that all he was doing was advising technical matters to his team.

I did put one of those smiley bloody things there with my post showing that I wasn't serious. It ain't there for decoration y'know Optimist you do drag-up these things don'tchya? The European trip I'd forgotten about completely. I'd hate to owe you a pint!! lol Anyway I think Vv you have a valid point there mate and it's a good spot. I wonder how much prep does go into our 17 y.o. wunderkid at free kicks. It does look sloppy and the corners seem sloppy as well. I miss the days of Hales and the flick-ons at the near post that used to be played on to him in the six yard box and like a flash it would be in the back of the net! Haven't seen anything that good ever since at corners.
