I hope that whilst Bowyer has got a list of targets and he's focusing on the match this weekend that both SG and MS are really trying to sort some deals out.

With Taylor we can control it. He's contracted to play with Charlton Athletic until the end of the season. Then he can go on a free. But until then he can't just go where he wants.

I agree, a stupid, careless comment by Bowyer, does he think us fans are thick? Of course we can fucking control the Taylor situation.

Maybe he meant that he can't control Southall deciding to accept a large transfer fee for him? Or he might have meant that he can't control Taylor accepting a new contract. Either way, he has left us, somewhat, in the dark about what will happen with Taylor.

Assuming he wants a move and does not get it, an unhappy Lyle Taylor is also an unknown quantity.
Will he be professional and play his best game, to look his best for Clubs that might want him in the summer? Or will he sulk and phone it in (be fairly useless to us for the rest of the season), assuming that other Clubs won't mind this too much because they know he wants out, and will offer him a job anyway.
Common sense would dictate it should be the former. But we know unhappy footballers can behave in inexplicable ways. And it's not just Taylor's behaviour on the pitch either. Will he be a pain in the dressing room, the training ground and on social media, even if he does still appear to be trying hard during games?
A moody, uncooperative Taylor could be worse for our run-in than no Taylor at all.

I'm amazed none of the journalists asked him if we were likely (unlikely I know) to have anyone in before Saturday!

I don’t think it matters too much Lardi as if he decides to throw the towel in and underperform , I don’t for one minute think that LB will tolerate that and could see a point where he just dropped him for Davison , for example... No player is bigger than the club is what we keep getting told , and if Taylor doesn’t have the brains to see that not playing for last 3 months of the season is gonna hurt his money/choice of team come seasons end , then he’d be much mistaken , someone will sign him yes , but playing to his best ability will without doubt give him more options and more money...

I agree that Bowyer would not tolerate Taylor walking through games with the hump. LT would find himself dropped pretty quickly. But it puts Bowyer in an awkward position, because some fans will then keep on at him to pick Taylor, and the player himself could still mooch about the place being disruptive, even if not on match days. I hope LT will be professional if he doesn't get his move, and behave with honour. Patrick Bauer is an excellent example to follow in that regard.

If LT underperformed the fans would let him know, just as spurs fans let Ericsson know the other night.
Lee would not tolerate a lack of effort and neither would we...

If it's true that Lyle wanted the move to Brentford at the beginning of the season there was certainly no sign of him throwing a moody on the pitch when the club turned the move down. I think it's ungenerous even to be speculating about him deliberately underperforming when his demeanour has been impeccable in the past.

LB: “Every day you learn, especially for someone like myself who wants to improve and learn. We’re having a different experience to the one we had last season, so it’s important to learn." #cafc
LB: “I believe that three more wins and a couple of draws will see us safe. But that’s the minimum. We have 14 games left and a lot of points to be played for, with some important games, especially at home." #cafc
LB: “The home games will be important and the fans will play a massive part towards that." #cafc
LB: “Nothing’s changed on the injury front. We’re trying to balance the minutes for those that had been out for a while. You could see on Tuesday that Lyle is getting back to where he was. He’s a robust player, closing people down and running around in the 89th minute.” #cafc
LB: “Lyle is priceless for us. From when we’ve brought him in to now, he’s been outstanding. He’s changed and improved a lot and it was so important that we kept him. For as long as he is here, we’ve always got a chance of winning games.” #cafc
LB: “Regarding a new contract, there are some things that need to happen. I know he wanted me to sign a contract and stay at the club and that was something that would influence him, but there’s one or two other things as well.” #cafc
LB: “We’ve got numbers that means we can rest players now. We left Jonny [Williams] and Andre [Green] behind on Tuesday, so it’s a bit of a luxury and it means those players can come back refreshed.” #cafc
LB: “Tuesday was one of our best wins of the season, especially off the back of Saturday because that was a disappointment for everyone." #cafc
LB: “I said to them that as long as they do the basics right, everything else falls into place. We did all the right things on Tuesday and it was a very good performance. My only criticism is that we didn’t win by more.” #cafc
LB: “It’s going to be great to see The Valley full. The place is going to be bouncing and it always is, even when it isn’t full. When I first came in charge, if you said we would be playing in the Championship in front of a full house, then you wouldn’t have believed it.” #cafc
LB: “I’m really looking forward to it and so are the players.” #cafc

More than 3 wins LB.. please! If we get those wins soon the players may switch off thinking they’ve achieved the target!..

Encouraging comments from Lee regarding LT. Seems to me LB is still hopeful of Taylor signing a new deal, in due course. Let’s hope he’s right.

Three winnable home games in the next four. In my mind we need to have secured safety before we play Wigan in our final home game of the season, otherwise that one will be very nervy.
