LB: “Everyone has returned from international duty injury-free. Conor only played a few minutes so it’s good he’s had a bit of a break. Josh Cullen didn’t play either. Tom and Jonny both started which is great. I watched the Croatia game and it was proud moment." #cafc
LB: “We’re all recharged and it was needed because we had a tough few games leading up to the break. The lads had a break, the staff had a break and we’re all raring to go again.” #cafc
LB: “I had a break, too, because the hours are relentless. I remember when I first took over, the first thing Alan Curbishley told me was ‘when you have a chance to get a break, take it, otherwise you will burn out.’ So I have taken his advice.” #cafc
LB on touchline ban: “I’ve been in this situation before. I learnt from the mistake I made last time. I didn’t shout, I didn’t swear, and spoke to the referee calmly." #cafc
LB: "I’d rather be on the touchline, but our work is done between Monday and Friday. They will all know their jobs whether I’m on the side or not." #cafc
LB: “I’ll have a walkie-talkie to the bench so the only difference will be that Jacko will be shouting the instructions!” #cafc
LB: “Hemed and Kayal have trained this week, so it’s good to have them back out there, but this weekend might be too early for them because they were already playing catch up.” #cafc
LB: “Our fans have been unbelievable, home and away. I think they recognise what a big part they play. At Fulham, they didn’t stop singing and they played their part. They keep the boys going and, hopefully, they can keep going. We’re going to need them.” #cafc
LB: “Ben Purrington is back in training so should be fine for this weekend.” #cafc
LB: “Lyle is still in the brace and is doing strength work. He’ll be out of the brace on Monday and we think he’s slightly ahead of schedule, so that’s positive news.” #cafc
LB: “Lewis Page will be back out running next week so he’s progressing.” #cafc
LB: “I have a great bunch that love going out and training every day. They work hard and they get rewards for it and they know that.” #cafc
LB: "They’re like kids that have had their toys taken away from them! They’ve been without games and they just want to play so they're really looking forward to this weekend." #cafc

Did he say when Lewis Page would be going for a rest after his run?.. Don’t get excited, he’s only running round the treatment room. You can’t be too careful.

Lee Bowyer has arrived for his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s trip to @qpr
“I’m struggling! Since Saturday afternoon, I’ve been ill so it’s not been the best, but it is what it is and we need to keep working hard.” #cafc
“It’s a festive time and for some it’s good, but for us it means harder work. The most important thing is that we start getting positive results.” #cafc
“The squad is the same. Jonny Williams was meant to be back, but he had an air-shot in training and tear something, so he’ll be out for another two weeks." #cafc
"Sam Field was meant to be back on Wednesday, but on Tuesday, his foot got stuck in the ground and he re-twisted his knee. He’s going for a scan, but it’s so disappointing that we won’t have him for the weekend.” #cafc
“The difficulty we have is the training pitches are soaked and underwater. We’re trying to find areas that we can actually get something into." #cafc
"We’re going to look to go to The Valley and training down there tomorrow, because it’s important for the lads to get some proper football into them.” #cafc
LB on late goals: “It comes down to concentration. You have to remember that a lot of these lads were playing in League One where you can get away with it, but you can’t in this division.” #cafc
“We have to do our individual jobs better because, if you don’t, you’ll get punished, and that’s what’s been happening.” #cafc
“I can’t fault their effort, but they need to learn to manage the game properly when they are in control. It’s a learning curve and when those players come back, it’ll put us in a stronger position for the rest of the season.” #cafc
“It’s in our hands. I believe we can win every game, even with all these players out. We’ve got Lyle coming back which is a big positive. He’s a big presence and a big character around the place. People look up to him and he knows how important he is.” #cafc
On the Takeover: “It’s been going on for as long as I’ve been in charge! It’s closer this time, but my job is to get results and the other stuff will take care of itself.” #cafc
“It’s all ifs and buts. I’ve met with the potential new owners. Hopefully, everyone gets what they want and we can move forward and plan.” #cafc

Some eye opening stuff there from LB, I hope he said some of it just to pass the time.
I find this extraordinary to be honest. Why does what league you are in make a difference to seeing games out?

Jonny Williams tears something taking an air shot, and Sam Field gets his foot stuck in the ground and has twisted his knee again.
Heaven help us.

Because the forwards you're defending against in League One aren't generally as clinical. They won't always punish a mistake. So you get away with late defensive lapses more often in L1. Not saying it's a valid excuse, but that's Bowyer's reasoning.

So, which injured player will be the next one to actually play again? I'm going for Hemed.

Williams has got a terrible injury history, so it always felt like a bonus having him on the field. Even carefully managing his minutes has probably only squeezed a couple more games out of him before the inevitable. I really sympathise with him because I suffer the same way now. Once you get muscle tears, you get more muscle tears and the all action style of Williams, makes him even more vulnerable.
The Field injury looks like pure bad luck as do the injuries to Oztumer and Cullen.
The Forster-Caskey injury sadly looked inevitable given the seriousness of last season's injury. No-one was surprised when it happened.
I don't even know what's wrong with Kayal, Aneke and Hemed.

If we have, then playing against Championship strikers shouldn't be an issue? You should possess the ability as a unit to see games out no matter what league you are playing in.

A priority for the new owners is to invest in some all weather training surfaces methinks.🤔

It always comes back to the same thing though mate. You don’t get good Championship quality players without paying a decent fee or decent wages. With the meagre budget that he had, LB had to take a punt on players from League One and below and hope he could improve them enough to make the step up. Some like Lockyer can make it and others look like they can’t unfortunately.

What are we doing though having players returning from injury training on sticky, boggy pitches? Madness.

The task was always to do as well as possible up until 31/12, then look to fix weaknesses and gaps in the squad. It was always going to be the case that some players could step up, whilst others found wanting.
The answer still lies with getting injured players back and adding three or four really talented players to the squad. Nothing as changed so its unclear why some are demanding more than that which can be delivered right now.
That all changes if we cant secure a win in January but for now let's just enjoy the Championship having been away for way too long... the timing of the EFL takeover approval is out of our hands but it's not at all clear what their approach might be. One might speculate but that isn't going to help much at this point.
