Just Imagine...... We’ve just played Swansea away , fuck it , we’ve just beat Swansea away on New Years Day 2-0 , Taylor and Aneke the scorers , the transfer window has just opened , we sit 3rd , 2 points behind the leaders , with a game in hand....
How much money to you think that RD would actually throw at the window , with the massive Premiership riches nearly in touching distance....?
NB... just a bit of fun question , if you write a reply and it’s anything like a post that you’ve posted before , delete it and write something new as it’s a hypothetical question and just a bit of fun...

If Charlton are doing that well by New Year, I don't think Duchatelet would need to throw too many millions at the team. Indeed it might be counter-productive, brining in expensive new players who could disrupt the spirit in the dressing room.
Because if Charlton are in 3rd place in January 2020 it will only be because the squad is nearly all fit and the first choice players are working superbly as a team in every way. And if it ain't broke I'd say it won't need much fixing.
Bowyer might let RD know that he needs two or three back-up players as some of the men who have got the team that far are starting to feel the strain. But I wouldn't have thought a January investment of more than £5m to £10m would be needed.
With a real possibility of £100 million+ to be won and a Premier League future, perhaps even Roland might roll the dice with £5m to £10m.
It's a nice (if extremely remote) possibility to think about...

He'd be a fool to change a winning formula if we're doing well, he would be a winner in every way- won't need to put his hand in his pocket, and the asking price of the Club will be rising with the success- all because of his genius business plan of course.

Would be interesting to see if he would go back to the early Roland days and feel the need to interfere and force LB into making big signings as the golden goose was so close....

To be honest I'd expect little to change. In fact, if we were performing that well, the challenge would be to keep hold of our existing players in the face of interest from Premier League clubs.
A more pertinent question might be to ask what he'll do if we're two points from safety at Xmas. Will he give Bowyer the funds to strengthen and keep us up, panic and bring in his own man again, or just let us go down?

Trying to guess how RD would behave in a situation like that is really difficult. You would like to think that as a business man he would see the investment opportunity and spend what LB asks for to get the job done. If we were in third place, that would suggest that not a lot of money would need to be spent, maybe only one or two players needed.
But this I’d RD we are talking about, so who knows . It’s a nice thought, however unlikely it is at the moment.

Blimey HH is RD still going to be the owner in January? That really is a bummer.
Frankly, if we were in such a position you put forward I wouldn’t expect there to be any change in the way he does things. A leopard doesn’t change his spots and there’s no reason to expect our particular big cat to break that habit unfortunately.
Not a particularly original thought I’m afraid.

I expect Roland's philosophy in that situation to be, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

I’d be disappointed we weren’t sat top of the table at least 10 points ahead of 2nd place.....

If it’s true about wanting to pair Taylor WITH Toney and not just as a replacement , then maybe he might twist and not stick.... Let’s hope that we might find out....
