Any of you guys go last night...? Was it a good night..? Any noteworthy stories..? Ricky Holmes spent most of the evening sat on his arse under a table moaning about the strength of the wind.
There were only 15 chips per portion.
Someone didn't like the choice of background music.
Apparently there was a sofa in the corner of the room which really upset some.
The curtains behind the stage looked a lot like goal nets (bad one that, so insensitive).
Those on International Duty (6 of them apparently !?) couldn't make it for reasons not made clear - bloody comms team.
They ran out of toilet paper and had to resort to using next month's VOTV which thankfully hadn't been stapled yet - I understand the headline was "The Imminently Brink Done On Deal" or similar.
Fanny was dressed head to toe in black and white rosettes and after 2 bottles of sherry once again managed to screw up the distribution list of an email she was composing.
Powell went on about inverted wingers to such an extent that he himself fell asleep, which was an issue as he was supposed to leave early to continue his Level 1 FA course at Huddersfield Recreation Ground.
The Belgian Beer that was promised didn't arrive but the brewer sent a message saying he really didn't give a shit.
There were other highlights I'm sure.

Shocked to see you mention VOTV & Powell.

On a more serious note, there is a picture of some of those there on Twitter.
Great to see a few members of that winning League 1 team there.

I went, it was a really good night. I had a chat with Yann Kermorgant and he told me he didn't want to leave and would have loved to have come back. I had a chat with Ben Hamer, he's not happy at Huddersfield.

I imagine he hated every moment of that contract and the subsequent one at Reading.

I had a chat with Ben Hamer, he's not happy at Huddersfield. I’m sure that Ben Hamer told you he was unhappy with the employer paying him thousands and thousands of pounds a week so that you could splash it on a Charlton forum. As for Kermorgant, I’m so bored of reading things like that. He was very gushing about Bournemouth in an article a few seasons back. Sooner or later fans will realise that these players always play the room. I’d like to see what he comes out with in a room with a couple of fans from all of his former clubs. He wouldn’t know what to say!

Blimey, you're a miserable bunch of old cynics. I for one believe him, Bournemouth weren't in The Premiership when Duchatelet sold Kermorgant, it was well reported at the time that he didn't want to go. He loved it here and that seemed obvious when I spoke to him. Obviously he enjoyed the wages at he got but he never asked to leave Charlton, he didn't want to leave Charlton, why can't you just accept that he might just (shock, horror!) have been telling me the truth!

He loved it here and that seemed obvious when I spoke to him. Obviously he enjoyed the wages at he got but he never asked to leave Charlton, he didn't want to leave Charlton, why can't you just accept that he might just (shock, horror!) have been telling me the truth! Part of the reason that I am cynical is down to reports that came out of the club that he was willing to stay if the club, almost, doubled his money and gave him a longer contract - matched what Bournemouth were offering him. It was also rumored (and not from RD or KM) that he 'refused' to play in a game that would have triggered a new year on his contract on the same money he was on. * Now it could be argued that he is telling the truth. He did want to stay, and he did love it at the club, but if he only wanted to stay if he was given a guaranteed a small fortune over three years then that does, ever so slightly, change the credibility of his comments. Remember that he only needed to play one more game for us and he was guaranteed another year. It is unrealistic to believe that the club can force him to go. Look at the dross that we've been stuck with over the years to realise that if a player won't go the club have to keep him, and keep paying him. He had a nice little pay rise the summer before when Celtic were sniffing around him, so he wasn't on third division money by any stretch of the imagination. Don't get me wrong, I loved the player, and I was disappointed when he left but I accept that he had a family to provide for and even though he was probably, already, earning more in a month than most fans earn in a year, he is entitled to chase the financial security for himself and his family. Or, frankly, to chase the money for flash cars, holidays, houses etc. What I take exception to is the suggestion from players, and not just Yann, that they were forced to move for hundreds and hundreds of thousands of pounds. Especially when this sequence of events is being shared with someone that can only dream of the salary that they left behind, never mind the one they got when they scarpered. * I have no evidence of any of this personally, but it came from a source that has told me five things over the years and the other four turned out to be 100% accurate.

If only RD had had the same ability to move on Ajose or any of the other dozen or so players that took money from us and, almost, never contributed eh?

It was Kermorgant who signed the deal and went on to earn at least £3M in wages and signing on fees from Bournemouth and Reading. And one of our players at the time shared the story with an ITK fan about the fake injury to avoid an automatic extension on £400k pa.
Big difference and a no brainer!
Once again, our problem has not been the sales but squad balance, management and player acquisition. These have improved massively these last two years so we are going in the right direction thanks to the likes of Solly, Jackson and others.
So much simpler to support those who wear our shirt and thank those who leave, whether they go up or down in the food chain.
Fact is that we won about four or five league games with Kermorgant and Stephens in the side. They left when we were in a relegation scrap. Powell went a few weeks later and then Riga steered us clear with 24 points from 16 games.

Whatever happened with the Kermogant scenario. We bought Polish Pete for a lot of money and he had one subs appearance. Also losing Stephens weakened us. We would have been a stronger team with Kermy. There is no doubt about that.

Not to mention the FA Cup quarter-final that we lost to a third division side. However you can't, realistically, keep players that are determined to leave and I believe that both of them were determined to leave.

The point I am making is that we spent 750000 pounds on someone who wasn’t good enough. He wasn’t the only one. Leave the football decisions to people who know about Football., like Gallen and Bowyer. Not some spotty Herbert in Belgium. It is no coincidence that we are getting a better class of player now. With the exception of Parker who was a panic buy. Who can forget some of the players like lePoint Thuram Anil Koc.

I am pretty sure games played to trigger extensions are for the benefit of the player. No way would picking Yann for X games would commit him to a longer contract for the club.
