Why do we have 10 players out? Steer, Bauer, Bielik, Grant, Taylor, Reeves, Djiksteel and Fosu have all played in a majority of games this season haven't they?

While we do appear to have been a little unlucky, it’s easy to exaggerate the extent of our injury problems by including in the list of absentees, players who wouldn’t get a game if everyone was available. It’s also possible we wouldn’t have even signed Josh Cullen if Forster-Caskey hadn’t been ruled out for the season. The ‘woe is me’ narrative can become a bit tiresome. It’s not as if other teams don’t have their own injury issues. That said, it will be interesting to see who plays and where when players currently injured return. I fear it may make less difference than some hope. An attempt to accommodate both Bielik and Cullen, for example, could even hurt the balance of the side as it did at Rochdale before Bielik was subbed at half-time.

If everyone were fit Chris, Pearce would miss out for me as he has been at fault for a few goals lately and that shouldn't go unoticed just because he's a fans favourite. Bauer and Bielik would be my central pairing. I have serious questions over Solly too these days. Ok he isn't a left back but he's not exactly pulling up an trees as a RB either, allowing far too many wingers to get crosses into our box. Grant is bang average too, we need a striker who is involved for the whole 95 minutes and doesn't just float in and out of games. He was hopeless yesterday.

Until a Charlton owner invests the right kind of money in our squad then it's game over after Xmas for promotion.
What will it take to get out of this league and get to the championship?.

What will it take to get out of this league and get to the championship?. Belief, hope, hard work, support for the team and better luck with injuries.

Until a Charlton owner invests the right kind of money in our squad then it's game over after Xmas for promotion. What will it take to get out of this league and get to the championship?. Without repeating posts by myself and others, it's surely a tad more complex than that? What is the actual gap between ourselves and a top four side right now? It has to be a mix of injuries, certain gaps in the squad that could be addressed next week AND how to become more consistent. We have one of the biggest wage budgets in the division for we have attracted the likes of Marshall and Clarke simply by paying more and we had a legacy of some steep contracts negotiated when we were a mid-table Championship club. We also have a manager who only plays three at the back when forced by injury or the Sarr red card. And yet our centre backs are decent defenders and can play the ball out effectively on the deck. There is no magic solution and to put your faith in the next owner is perhaps not the best option? What say we simply turn up on Tuesday and Saturday, back the lads and see what happens. Let's see where we are at 5pm on Saturday!
