Sixth post down by killerandflash in response to Bowyer praising the fans on Saturday. The poster says that the atmosphere was good on Saturday with the only game where it was really flat both on and off the pitch being the Fleetwood one. I have no doubt whatsoever that he posted that forgetting that this particular game happened to be on a protest day so it just goes to show that when they happen it sends a totally negative vibe around the place both on the pitch and off it. The people who are there are 100% behind the side and I noticed on the couple of occasions at the Fleetwood game that people tried to sing Protest songs the drummers did not back them and it was quickly replaced with songs supporting the side. The atmosphere at home and away has had a feel good vibe and protest crap just does not fit that mood, long may it continue ..

It's one comment out of ten. there is a surge of positive comments on social media as we keep winning and keep climbing the table. We had an additional 500 Charlton fans vs Plymouth to get back to our typical attendance of 10,000 home fans. Ideally there will be an additional 500 at the next game and so on.
As posted before, the only time protest organisers will attempt something at a game is when results and performances are disappointing. They will not risk being called divisive when we are chasing the play-offs. Nor will they risk a poor turn out as fans walk past them with their focus on the team and result.
The atmosphere at the Valley was flat in August and we were down 1,000 fans. How much of that was down to poor results and late signings we don't know. The important thing is that we are back now. And we are chasing a fifth consecutive win with Fosu available. We have been on our way back since Slade was sacked after that horrible defeat on Sky nearly two years ago. It has been slow at times but it's now clear that Bow and Gallen have secured the players to deliver another top six finish.

The atmosphere at the Plymouth game on Saturday was good at times, but a bit quiet at others. It was very urgent, loud and 100% supportive during the last 15 minutes when Charlton were really pressing for the winning goal, as you would expect. That is maybe the time that LB was thinking of the most when he praised the fans.
Plymouth was the 5th home league game this season. Two of the other four had less than great atmospheres from what I remember and what I wrote in the stats update thread at the time;
The first home game against Shrewsbury had a surprisingly muted atmosphere as well as low attendance.
The third home game against Fleetwood (the protest game) had an odd atmosphere, with both traditional CAFC chants and anti-Duchatelet chants being heard - though the protest chants were much less frequent. But there were lengthy periods of near silence as well.
The second home game (Peterborough) and the fourth one (Wycombe) had much better atmospheres. I think the atmosphere at the Peterborough game was the best so far this season even though we lost. The team put in a massive effort to compete with a very good Posh side, and the crowd really got behind them.

Yes it’s been the endeavour of the playing squad that has up the volume. The end of window signings of Steer, Cullen, Bielik and Ward gave us all good reason to look forwa4d to the next match day

I suspect that much of the reason for the reduced attendances in August would have been due to fans being on holiday. After not missing a game for decades, my family now go on holiday in August. Back in the Premier League we always avoided being away during the season just I case. Missing a third division game or two doesn’t seem to be sufficient to dictate our social lives in quite the same way.
