oohaahmortimer From a selfish point of view anyone but Roland is my choice because on the minuscule chance the new owners are worse we will still get a chance as fans to come together, for however briefly that be . ------------ and that is why CARD have damaged the club. Happy to take a worse situation as long as it isn't the situation they have their thrown toys around about. I can't believe what I've just read

Your response to this genuine long term supporter of this Club speaks volumes. This isn't about the ownership, it's about the understanding of what this glorious football club means to so many people and how they feel that the soul of the Club has been ripped out of it by Duchatalet and his minions and the fact it means nothing to them. I don't understand what is so bad about this ownership compared to that of Slater and Jimminez, or the latter stages of the Murray regime or the numerous other poor owners we have had. Duchatalet follows a long line of poor and indifferent owners, with one brief period (during my life time) headed up by Murray. I really do find it difficult to understand. Other than the vitriol against a foreign owner and a female young and pretty CEO. yes they have made mistakes bad ones at that but never put us close to bankruptcy. From day 1 VOtV has been against them and been able to stir up a hornets nest of ill informed, mysoginistic supporters. How long does anyone think before a new owner is being criticised by VOtV? It has form ..since '85, even as an employee of the club Everitt was pissing on it, slagging off fellow employees, not one owner has he found acceptable. Of course its about ownership! Not sure where RE comes into the discussion. I have no intention of defending him as he's more than capable himself. I was referring to the quote made by SoundAsa£, which is why I quoted it in my reply.

I've learnt my lesson Reams and I'm sure fans have learn't their lesson too. We're well aware of how some owners are ruining their respected clubs. Roland has been a disaster for us so we'd have to wait and see if these Aussies are any better. A disaster for us ? We got relegated, stayed solvent and are now playing under a young and enthusiastic manager that most people admit is encouraging the best football we've played in years. "Disaster" seems a lot worse than that but of course protesting wankers focus on chip portions, DJs, Sarr (LOL) and goal nets. Relegation is pretty disastrous for a football club. If we 'stayed solvent' how come the accounts show a deficit of over £50m? Mostly bought about by piss poor management of the Club and it's disastrous transfer dealings. It's taken them seven attempts to get a decent manager - surprising you seem to have forgotten about the previous six. Agreed, we are playing the best football we have been playing for years - about four. Of which this owner has been in charge for three and a half of. The Club has fallen apart under the current stay away owner and as far as I'm concerned, the sooner he fucks off and takes his cowardly minions with him the better. And I don't give a shit about Powell, sofas, chips or Everitt.

And I don't give a shit about Powell, sofas, chips or Everitt. You make some good points. Relegation can be disastrous and very few get promoted at the first attempt. As we start the second half vs Bradford, many would consider it a disaster if we were losing 3-0 and starting our annual slide down the table. But that's not the case and we are holding our own in the top six. For sure a couple of thousand are boycotting but over ten thousand home fans go to the Valley every game. We had a couple of turbulent seasons but we have stability now. A decent side and just over two months to the next window when we can wave goodbye to Dodoo. There is a sound base from which this owner or perhaps the next can take the next steps. As for the £50M that belongs on a separate thread. All I will say is that "disastrous transfer dealings" have given us Sarr, Bauer, Kashi, JFC, Magennis, Holmes etc etc.

Please don't make me explain the difference between solvency / insolvency / friendly debt / bad debt etc. The club has not fallen apart.

Apparently the players asked about Kenny Everitt's latest rumour and were told yesterday that there is no "imminent takeover".
Every newspaper and media outlet that has enquired has been told the same, which is why the story has only appeared in one place - the Voice Of The Vacuous.
So as you were, it seems.
I make that good news. My prefered sequence would be promotion and a sale next summer to an ambitious consortium that wants to invest in a championship club and attempt to take us to the promised land.

Do you really expect the club to come out and admit that a deal , should there be one , is on!? How ridiculous... Whoever is asked at CAFC has always said that the club is not for sale, but even journalists in Belgium have said that Roland is wanting to sell!

If you look at the original pRick announcement he says that he only made a noise about this because he wanted to get in first (it was going to break elsewhere) so he Gobbo'd off.

There’s a lot of difference between a Belgian journalist knowing that The owner actively wants to sell as opposed to the first team staff knowing the ins and outs of any kind of deal! How would the players know, other than asking Miere? She’s hardly going to say “yes Mark Marshall, there is a deal on going” is she!! Plus , if the players know then that story gets elsewhere...

There will be no sale until we are a Championship side and then Red Bull will come along and do what they need to do.
Aussie talk is dead in the water.

The last takeover rumour that was in the mainstream media was broken by the daily mail! Others may have picked up on it and used VOTV to source it but very much came from daily mail sources!

All the indications suggest you are correct about the Aussies, reams. I'd like to hope you are right about Red Bull, too. Would love to see them trying to turn us into the new Leipzig. They're rich enough that M Duchatalet would get his investment back, which seems only just given the amounts of money Staprix have poured in to keep Charlton afloat - and rich enough to have a serious tilt at the premiership.

KR went a bit further in his post-match presser, and said not only that he had been told there is no imminent takeover but that he has been assured "categorically" that it isn't happening.
He also said he accepts that if there were to be new owners, he would be shown the door immediately.
Be very careful what you wish for, peeps.

Well, here's an interesting view on 'Drinking During the Game'. Descendant of Stalin, perhaps? Anonymous said... In all honesty, there is a lot of people that deserve to go. A lot of people that criticised the fans, especially the likes of Sue Parks, Paul May (Reams), Tony Kahone, are a few that I can name off the top of my head. These people are anti-Charlton and anti-Fans. Once RDs gone, we should look at removing all those that never supported the fan protests and efforts. 20 October 2017 at 13:57 This must be good news for both Sue and Reams as for them "to go" the club would need to employ them, then unreasonably sack them and they would get (a) a short term salary (b) a pay off!!

I want to detach myself from that and I want my players to detach themselves from that. Some people will be happy with it, some people will question the turbulent times. But I’ve been told it’s as you were.” If there is ‘categorically’ no takeover , then why is he putting his position in ‘proverbial trouble’ , and how would he know his job would be lost if there is a takeover!?

Despite the unanswerable disasters of the last few years and all the noises off, even the most anti RD/KM supporters have to see that finally things are starting to move in the right direction.
KR is an excellent young maanger who has got us playing his way. We have the strongest squad we have had for some time. Players (Sarr for example) who looked indifferent or just not up to it are looking half decent.
It would be disastrous to disrupt this. Given that we are in Division 3, who could we realistically entice is better manager than KR?

"I’ve been told categorically that won’t be the case"...
...and if it were the case, Karl? "I’d be gone, simple as that."
No much room for "interpretation" there.
You need to realise, sammy, that wishing somehting were true is not the same as it being true. Some of us cottoned on to that 60 to 70 years ago when we pretended to be asleep and caught our dad filling our Xmas stocking!!!

Nothing ‘categorical’ from the SLP piece www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton-athletic-boss-karl-robinson-reacts-to-report-that-takeover-talks-at-advanced-stage/ Alternate to that, maybe yourself should be the one to realise not everything Karl Robinson says isn’t true - let alone anything that the club says about a takeover can be taken at face value... don’t the club usually come out with a ‘not for sale’ statement after rumours , nothing of that ilk yet!? wanting a takeover may not make it true , but neither does not wanting one make the stories false!

You should have kept up with your Janet & John reading scheme at school, sammy. KR's "I’ve been told categorically that won’t be the case" is in the eight minute audio and is also repeated in the final par of the SLP piece to which you so helpfully provide a link... As for your doubting KR's truthfulness, he also says in the SLP report, "Hopefully people will respect my honesty.” May be you missed that bit as well?
