Another good win yesterday. A very promising start, a classy squad more than capable of promotion and a top manager in charge.
The club is more stable and successful than for a long time. Surely the last thing we need just when things have stabilised on and off the pitch is for everything to be thrown up in the air again with the uncertainty that would inevitably come with a change of owner - so time for everyone to get beyond the team AND the club, wouldn't you say?
The one compliant of the protestors that has still not been met is that the owner never attends. The rumour is that he is due to attend a match at The Valley in September, a symbolic event which will hopefully put the icing on the cake of the peace process.
Great to have the feel-good factor back in SE7 after the unpleasantness and unrest of recent seasons.

Well Aussies have lost their major funding and they asked Paul Elliott to come on board he is trying to get a joint adventure between the Chinese and Aussie .. RD not happy with the Aussies after a takeover was agreed and all through the process they missed deadlines ...... the deal not completely dead but it's not going to happen this side of Xmas

I think what we want is irrelevant, as it has been throughout. We are just bystanders and as Katrien Meire pointed out, M. Duchatelet will do what suits him. My lament is that a wedge has been driven between certain sets of people who all love Charlton as seen in Reams' post above. I just hope time will heal the rift.

Sorry mate but my rift will never heal.
There is an unbelievable thread elsewhere created by one of the biggest toss pots I have seen posting on forums, a cry baby.
He asks in the title...Have the Supporters won!!!.....SUPPORTERS? Really?
All along they have labelled themselves as protesters telling us all on a daily basis how they are staying away from games but now we are winning again and things are on the up, suddenly they are supporters again!!
They can fuck right off as far as I'm concerned, they made their bed and came out with countless distasteful and disgusting comments along the way, they can rot in it for all I care, I would rather try and make up with my worst enemy than that lot.

RD has shown signs that at last he is getting things right and the club is starting to move forward again. Time will tell if this momentum continues throughout the remainder of 2017/18 and beyond. No question that it has been a painful 3 years, both for us fans and indeed for the owner. If we are now moving in the right direction as many are starting to believe, then perhaps another chance should be given, a final one granted, to the regime.

I was one of those who was keen for a change of ownership for broadly the following reasons:
1) Consistently poor manager recruitment 2) The repeated signing of players with either very little or absolutely no experience in the football league 3) Under-investment in players given the money recouped from sales 4) An owner with a hierarchy of clubs which we didn't seem to be at the top of 5) Three consecutive seasons of under-performance on the pitch, linked to the issues above
Whilst it's very early in the season, it does now appear that the majority of these concerns have been addressed and therefore I think it'd be silly for anyone to be vocally be calling for a change in ownership at this stage.
That said, the real test for me will be how we compete if and when we get back into the Championship. That's where we were before RD took over, so he needs to get us back there and thus undo the damage his poor decision-making has caused before I'll be completely satisfied with him as the owner.
Completely agree that attending a game would be a nice symbolic gesture and that the feel-good factor is most certainly back around the club again.

Only if someone came in willing to spend a lot of money. 4 games in and we are heading at last in the right direction but lets just to take one game at a time and don't get to high when we win and too low when we lose. In my opinion the Championship now is what the premier league was ten years ago i.e. Transfer fees and wages so if Roland could get us to a mid table championship team I would be well pleased.

I never believed a change of ownership would solve all of the issues and always felt that a change of direction, together with recruiting a director of football should stabilise things. Much has been written by some fans about how "this and that" is wrong and how we cannot be successful under the ownership of RD. However like most football clubs we just needed the right manager, a bit of time and chance to change the squad to follow a set type of play. As opposed to changing the manager every five or six months. I'm sure there are offers for CAFC all the time but who will offer the right price and who can guarantee steady progress? All of the arguments put forward by lead protesters neglect the need for a serious football strategy, deep pockets and to keep waste and costs down whilst developing the side.
The remarkable thing is that we've had a break even season financially and not much has been spent to transform us from a mid-table side into a top six contender. No £M signings and only a couple of loans. No, progress has come through the steady development of the squad with five or six faces changing each window.
The fact that thousands of fans protested and that four thousand season ticket holders have not renewed should not be forgotten. There's still a lot of work to do and gates are up by 500 this season. That's roughly 10% of the drop so a tad early for any triumphalism.
It's not about what's written on social media, but steady progress on the pitch and marketing the club to get another 500 back... and then another. Having said that, one league defeat in nine and the knockers are somewhat subdued.
A decent result vs Oldham and we can look forward to good crowds at home in September. But just because the North Stand are singing KR's name that doesn't mean RD should be signing autographs just yet.
If anything, the club thrived with the narrative of Chris Powell continuing "against the odds" whilst budgets are restrained. CAFC is a football club so perhaps KR should stay as the face of the club rather than introduce distractions from the board again?
It will take time and a lot more wins before those complaining about non-football issues are forgotten about. So it's up to the owner to ensure the right conditions for progress, rather than step into the limelight. More work at the Training Ground and continued funding of a competitive squad will help all forget about relegation a couple of seasons back.

I thought we had made a loss of just under £10m last season ... unless you mean break even with the lookman fee, which of course is a bit of a one off! I feel new ownership would give a fresh start to everyone- fans, players, directors and owner - something we've needed for a long time regardless of Duchatelet, but had 'heightened' the last few years under his control! continuation under RD still has problems with stakeholders... It's too early in the season to say we are/will be successful, hopefully things both on and off the pitch will be a lot clearer in the new year!

There's a sense of progress, purpose and unity about the club once more and a vision and ambition on all sides that encompasses a very realisitic hope of promotion. Short of fairy dust and a magic wand, I don't think one could wish for more than that.

Short of fairy dust and a magic wand, I don't think one could wish for more than that. However, I meant a real proper fresh start... A start away from clubs like Sint Truiden, Ujpest etc A start where there is no 'past' regardless of whether people think changes have been made A start where the focus is on charlton fully , rather than other businesses/other clubs/other roles in football I agree each new season normally is a new start, however as I said it will take until Christmas at the earliest to tell if success is on its way! What I'm getting at is that I'm sure most fans would want a proverbial new piece of slate, rather than an old one wiped clean! (Something that isn't aimed at just duchatelet and his gang, but also the likes of Murray etc)

Let's get one thing straight shall we.
The club are making better decisions and have us in a much better place because they listened to the fans not the protesters.
People say they are the same thing!! Are they f**k, just ask the club themselves.
Protesters have all but disappeared, ousted out by the supporters who have worked with the owner and CEO.
These morons claiming success is absurd, it's merely a face saving exercise to justify the thousands spent on plastic toys fit for two year olds.

I want a change of owner despite the early promise of this season. I don't see the situation as a result of careful and calculated planning so much as getting a bit lucky with Robinson, and allowing him to be a bit persuasive. I remain highly suspicious regarding the motives of our present owner given the experience since he took over. I can't magic up a billionaire, or a win on the euromillions though, and we are stuck with this regime because it is good at building up debt to staprix.

Still wanting a change of owner with the season just underway would no doubt mean change of manager, coaching staff, players the list goes on -- All the good work undone! Why is it that now, when thing are going in the right direction -- it's always down luck as far as protesters are concerned -- not a good word in sight -- Protesters have gone too far and they know it with their childish actions , abusive chants etc etc etc ...-- instead of the meetings they were offered -- they threw their toys out of the pram. The Club have admitted their mistakes -- Wonder what are the chances of the protesting groups doing the same? We are playing some of the best football seen at the Valley in a long time -- That I can assure you does not come down to luck-- It's down to good old fashioned teamwork from the owner down. RD has put in place a team to run Charlton -- By his trust in that team -- Takes us to where we are today. If RD came to The Valley on a match day -- What difference would it really make -- Some would wave at him while some would clap, some might just stare few would most probably boo -- It's the game we have all come to see -- Not the owner! --

Duchatelet appears to be showing signs of a change, it's too early to be certain but the evidence certainly suggests that. If this progress continues then all well and good.
A change of ownership now wouldn't disrupt anything as long as they left Robinson in charge, the team will carry on as now.
I would welcome a change of ownership if we got a wealthy new owner who was willing pump millions into the club, failing that I'm happy to see how things continue.

From what I can tell from the activity over the past several months the owner wants a change of owner. The difficulty is agreeing a price.

From what I can tell from the activity over the past several months the owner wants a change of owner. The difficulty is agreeing a price. Can you tell us your source - was it that well-known bible of objective truth Voice Of The Valley, perhaps? Or The Monk-who-talks-Bunk? Because I was told first hand by two different directors the club is not for sale. One of them was pretty certain that we would have to be back in the championship before a sale can even become a possibility. Those who remain determined to try to force a sale now - and apparently the 'Belgian 20' are planning another of their jolly booze cruises - are grossly irresponsible, in my view. A sale now would risk tearing up all the good work, throwing away the experience that has been so hard-earned and halting the positive progress that has been made both on the field and off it with the training ground etc. Reams's view has been consistent over the last six months - the owner has one more season to get it right free of protests. I think that is more than reasonable. And so far at this early stage of the season, we would appear to be on course for the success that most Charlton supporrters crave to be delivered.

Belgian 20 with 20 being the operative word.
If they kick off misbehaving at this point when our ship is sailing again, then I suggest they stay well away from the Valley, they are not wanted, advice that may even extend to St. Trond because they are doing well too and from what I saw, their fans were well behind them last Saturday night when they played Waasland Beveren
We don't need these pricks swanning around like they're something special, they're vermin.

There has been change for the better. I can't say if that's because KR has pushed for it successfully or if ownership has realized that what it's done hasn't worked. Could be both. Whatever the reason, these are positive steps.
I hope we can get to a place where any criticism or critique of the club isn't immediately conflated with protest.

You have to remember that the Club appointed KR in the first place and it wasn't luck. According to our meeting with KM, they had been after him for a while, but had to appoint Slade as KR wasn't available last Summer. That was the recognition that Plan A the Network didn't work. To be fair "if" we got promotion this season RD's legacy would not be at all bad - a refurbished ground, one of the best academies in the country, new training facilities and no unfriendly debt.
