Why the hell do you post on Charlton Life the amount of grief you get especially from a certain Mr Irving

He actually received 20 likes today for a post which basically said "the past is the past, move on".
Irving is close on 50,000 posts over 10 years. That's 100 a week FFS!
Some say CL has volume and reaches lots of fans, others say it's dead and full of bitter VotV readers who know little about football anx finance.
All I will say is that I left CL 12 months ago and don't regret it.
And that the longer we are out of the FAPL, the further we will slip into obscurity with thd fanbase becoming sad complaining old gits.
If somebody wants to challenge the blame and regret culture then "fair play" says I.

Colin is thick skinned, Ben Hayes is just thick full stop!
CL has gone downhill since it became a fully fledged CAST site, loathed by the club and fellow fans alike especially those on the other two forums, this one and 606.
It is hugely populated but the football knowledge on there is shockingly poor.

Why the hell do you post on Charlton Life the amount of grief you get especially from a certain Mr Irving Problem with a lot of people on CL us they don't have a clue about Charlton football club its history and what we been through . They think this is the worst of the worst for the club well it's not , being 15 mins from not having a club , leaving the Valley to play at Selhurst are far worst then anything that's happened under RD. The problem with most on CL is they don't listen and print the same rubbish day in day out ... Then we have the Powell issue that's cringe worthy . There are some good people I have had many emails saying good things. no idiots will stop me posting on any platform . I am afraid after watching the idiots in the lower north over the last few games that the club are just a vehicle for people to cause trouble as I have said many times lot of these idiots were not Charlton fans or knew what they were protesting about ... this is not how I want my club to continue . The owners have made an effort to change the signs are excellent and now it's time for the supporters to to meet them half way and let's see where it takes us . I

Top post - I have a different view on some of the points, but the line highlighted in blue is exactly the way it should be. Nobody should ever be discouraged from posting their honest opinion, however unpopular those views might be with some others.

I have had a messageboard exchange with him before and learnt a lesson, the fella will generally want to have the last word. When that is the case things are a problem, be it behind a keyboard or in the 'real world'. However, I do get the impression that the man is not thick.

To balance out the shortcomings of Hayes, the museum is fantastic and he no doubt has put in a lot of time with this. However, it is mildly amusing how his nose has been put well out of joint regards the slagging of Murray. I read a post last week with him very mildly criticising Murray, that must have been the only time he has posted anything personally against him.

, we wanted players and a manager that knew the league we are stating to get that . The idea of protesting like last season is such a depressing thought , but getting behind a winning team and creating a positive atmosphere sounds a lot more appealing , reading CL all I see is constant rambling about keep the protests going , those Belgian wankers etc. I just hope people get bored of that. Certain people who keep banging on relentlessly about it think they are on some noble cause for the future of charlton but I get the impression they just like the sound of their own voice. Most fans surely just want to see winning football , if the owners produce that then why protest . Some Leicester fans wanted to protest about Ranieri , they certainly look like fools now , hopefully this season will produce a promotion and a feel good factor again

Backing the team to get onfield success will more than do for me and you don't get that by having protests and demos on match days. There appears to be two major badges of honour over there - Sir Chris adulation and 'I'm not interested in new signings and you shouldn't attend matches next season!' Sad bunch or what???

Far to early in the day to give this regime a chance, a British manager and a few English players is encouraging, and we can only hope that things improve. I have little regard for the CEO, and the owner, far too many inept and strategic mismanagement mistakes . Sorry just do not trust them. Yes I will be going, but no I will not be buying a season ticket. How long will the protests go on, no idea. Not sure why anybody wants to post on a forum to get abuse, yes you have a right to express an opinion, but at the end of the day what is the point trying to convince people with a closed mind. Of course people want winning football, and when it returns, who knows the fans may well return? .......Not convinced they all will though, but I am not convinced this CEO cares to be honest. To me we are still on the 'killing floor'........ We are relegated and we can only hope..... hope for better times, and yes winning football. Good luck to the team, Good luck to the manager, Football is about enjoyment and the last two years has been about disaster management which they failed on nearly every level

Good comments there Ken - having a good playing squad properly managed and winning games is the formula for having happy fans I would have thought. As always interesting times at SE7

A squad good enough for promotion will ensure some fans support the team. On the other hand some will continue to protest because they feel that nothing has changed. So I expect there will be more conflict on message boards not less, if we do well. It's going to be an interesting season.

They all follow CARD because they can't think for themselves think this says more about the problem with CARD

How old are you Reams? What an embarrassment. Saying people need drowning for having a different opinion to you... I personally don't have some kind of bitter hatred towards another FOOTBALL FORUM and go between here and CL along with CAFCPicks just to see other opinions but all you get on here is shit talking about other forums.
On the topic of protests, I'm holding my judgement for now, 3 signings and a manager isn't enough to talk me round, for the last 2 seasons we've had a few decent signings them filled the gaps with shit so I'm awaiting the departures and replacements before I go all out in support of RD&KM.

Clearly it is for the battered housewifes though. CARD are not perfect and CL has its fair share of fools but people need to get a sense of proportion about exactly what has gone on here.

Harry you melt read the thread title. Bullying in any walk of life is unacceptable and Bexleyboy gets slaughtered on CL for no reason. This is not about CARD it's a bout getting slagged off in public and if you feel it's ok to do that then the only card is you i'm afraid.

Perhaps they share the one brain cell between them They all follow CARD because they can't think for themselves think this says more about the problem with CARD Lack of knowledge about football I would say, not the club. You only have to read some of the shite they write to realise that. Some are opportunistic and week after week they slag off the signings made by this regime. However they usually omit the guy we signed for free who just played for Iceland vs England. They then go on to state that the academy has always been there whilst failing to recognise that all the talent is now signed on long term deals instead of leaving on the cheap - Jenkinson and Poyet. What is most noticeable is that nobody is posting on the CL 2016/17 squad thread. Aside from perhaps a couple of sales and additions the squad is in place for next season. We are in League 1 for sure but do we see any major weaknesses in any position? Or do we see an established squad built up over three years which has seven or eight players who have clocked 50+ appearances for the club? My point is that I or anybody else could go and post something along these lines. I could even cite transfermarkt showing CAFC with a squad valuation of £10M while the other top clubs are rated £3M. But life is short and I don't have the time nor the interest to debate with people who are blind to the actual football and who resort to personal vindictive positions when logic and reason fails them. There are people like that in all walks of life but leading them in the right direction against vested interests doesn't pay the bills! On this site there's a balance of opinion. We are fortunate to have posters like @lardiman with tables and stats plus Mundell with dry analysis. I don't see that elsewhere but what I do see is VotV, CL, CARD and CASTrust becoming more and more aligned as they head down a cul-de-sac marked oppositionalist whilst simultaneously the club heads for the top six and a possible promotion.

I've stuck up for Colin on several occasions when I've felt that what people are saying is unjustified, the trouble is 20 minutes later he makes a post so ridiculous that it's hard to bother. Yes he has a different opinion to most people but that's definitely not what causes it, it's blatant that some of his posts are meant for nothing more than to get a reaction. Don't get me wrong among them are some posts that make complete sense but are shot down because of the reputation that he's got himself.

The point is that this site has posters who can engage in critical thinking. An identical post on this site and CL will get two completely different reactions. Only a few weeks to go and we will see if we have a winning team, or not. People who can play the ball and not the man are more likely to enjoy the season coming up.
