It would be great if we could get a couple of hundred Charlton fans over to Liege for a home game and join in their protests against Duchatelet and then a few weeks after they did likewise and sent a load of their ultras over here.
If that doesn't send out a message nothing will.

Hi Reams, already talked to a couple leaders in the scene here about the idea and I only got positive responses about it... So I think it has a good chance in the future to be done. Some ultras also went to Jena and Jena also came over to Liège and they are also all against duduche... I'll keep you informed...

Ok thanks Inkblot! I'm in no hurry anyway :-) Even if for the sakes of our clubs it's time that duchatelet takes a step back...

Just to point out that I am not advocating riots here as somebody has accused me of doing on another thread.
I just think it would be great for fans in the network to come together and support each other.
Yes I used the word protests but was the chanting at Watford on Saturday not a protest?

I'm not talking about a riot either. An action like this together will get the attention of the press and that's the point. Making them see that we are fed up by his management of his teams. The guy is a billionaire and the only thing he does is making even more money instead of investing in a good solid team. If he would just spend like 15 millions (what is absolutely nothing for him) a year in our team (Standard Liège) with quality players then we would be top of the league with good football every year. But no, the only thing he did since he is in Liège is destroying absolutely everything we build up since 20 years. Just before he took over the club we had such an incredible team with all very talented youngsters that are almost all playing for national teams now nad in 3 years time he managed to ruin everything. Now we have nothing anymore... When we entered in his office (yes I was there also and I'm not ashamed of doing that at all) he told us personnaly that he didn't see why it was important to us to play european football every year. He just didn't get it at all... Well maybe for Charlton it is not important but I can tell you that for Standard fans it is very important. We play european cup almost every year and that's what we aiming for every year. Hearing your president tell you that he doesn't get it then, well that's the drop too much in the bucket. I don't think you really realize yet what kind of man he is. He does not care about any sportive improvment, the only thing he wants is buying properties, launder his money across his clubs etc... If that's what Charlton fans want then so be it, good luck with that. We, in Liège, do not want that. We want a chairman that is interested in having good results and investing a little bit in players with quality. A joined protest will make him and the outside world see that we are fed up with his bullshit. I'm not a fan of Charlton and I'm sure that none of the Charlton fans are fans of Standard, and that's not the point. We just want duduche out of her lives. If he would sell our team we would be more then happy, and believe me he would not invest a pound more in Charlton after that. It would still remain the same... This guy doubled his money since he bought Standard, just by selling our players and by publicity. Do you know that he bought 3 japaneese players just to have his name known in Japan because the majority of his busuinesses are in Japan? Our website is even in japaneese if you want now... Like there are any japaneese in Belgium... What a joke... He ven started doing tours for japaneese tourists in Liège because they like to take pictures of the palyers etc... Players that by the way are shite. I hope we can get rid of Kawashima as soon as possible

I hope we can get rid of Kawashima as soon as possible The Problem with RD at Charlton is that he is more or less the only one who can and is keeping us away from financial problems/ bankruptcy ... it take a lot of money to get a championship club like us to be able to compete and get to the premier league (more than what it would take liege to compete etc I would imagine), so its a problem for us! Do we go against the owner and the ways he is running our club in favour of ousting him and then once again be in financial problems without proper meaningful ways of buying players and competing? I see sticking with RD as a lesser of two evils , and I still do think he is the right person to take us forward ON THE PROVISO HE FOCUSES ON US and runs his clubs individually. He is the only one who can afford ground improvements if we need them (aka we're in the BPL) as well as keeping our new training ground on track.

I can understand your point of view. But me, having talked to him personally and to his employees as well (they practically all hate him as well) I can't impossibly say anything or think anything good about this man. He is the evil reincarnated to me. In front of the fans he is probably the biggest coward I ever crossed in my whole life and in front of his employees the biggest tyrant ever. He sacked almost everybody in our club that was really involved in bettering the club and replaced them by his pions, people that have absolutely no clue how to run a football club. I hope he sells our club, even if we have to start all over again but at least with somebody interested in trying to do something good sportivally. To me football it is all about trying to win games, and to 99% of the standard fans it is that also. Making money we are not interested by that and everyone knows that you can't really make money with a football club. Except duduche, he will drain your club and sell every youngster with a value. You will see in the future... Charlton is doomed, like Standard, to be a meaningless club without any atmosphere. But here in Liège we will not give up without a fight...

I wasn't questioning you pal , just saying what I see at Charlton Without RD we are almost destined to obscurity as we are unlikely to attract 'better' investors. All the while He is here he is keeping us financially stable and we have the chance (if RD has a change of heart or whatever) to spend millions - something we haven't had for a long while! While I do feel sorry for standard and you , the fans - I feel that if you do get rid of RD you are able to keep going strong and improve , where as if we get rid of RD we are F'ked. He knows this of course! Now I don't neccesarly agree with whatever RD is doing at any of his clubs , but I think Charlton are the only one in the network that need the most investment (and by that I don't mean players etc ) - he is improving our infrastructure and the stadium/training ground which bodes well for a positive future; after all we want what you want in the long run - success! Im interested in what we can do to show him he needs to buck up his ideas , but I would like to remind people that we don't want to make him negative towards us otherwise it could get even worse before its better!

I was just wondering, did he already bought al the properties around the stadium in Charlton? Here in Liège he did that for his projects how he sees football. His idea is that people that come to football spend money in the amusement park and restaurants and hotels. The whole family can come, and while dad and his son goes to watch the game without any atmosphere anymore then the wife and the daughter can enjoy themselves at the movie theater next to the stadium. To me that is the complete hell, the modern football I hate. I don't want anything to do with that. When I was young I remember the days when my mates and me would cross the channel to go watch a couple of games at Stamford Bridge or White Hart Lane. I remember I loved everything about it, getting at the turnstiles, getting my cheap tickets, eatin a burger, drinking my beers, smelling the piss and beers around the terraces. And then that amazing atmospeher, evrybody united, singing, standing on the terraces. It was all great. Now when I see Chelsea or Arsenal or any other "big" teams I could cry. There is absolutely no passion anymore, nothing left, high prizes, everybody must sit down and shut up. I hate it. In the past when we drew an english team in european cup we were so excited, now when we draw an english club everybody is so dissapointed because it's going to be so boring. Last time we played Arsenal I didn't even go to the stadium because it's like sitting in a church. There is nothing special at all anymore about british football. I just stayed in London and watched the game in a pub with other fellas... In lower divisions you still have a bit of oldschool ambiance, but for the rest it's all dead there and that's the fault of guys like duchatelet. They are killing everything about the beautiful game...

I'm talking about the atmosphere and living the game... you talk about the quality of the football teams... That's not the same. When I used to go to Chelsea and Tottenham when I was young it was for the atmosphere not for the football. I could not give a toss about who won the game. That's all gone. The last times I went to see a game in England was Liverpool-Standard in european cup and Everton-Standard in european cup and we outsang them the whole game. really? A belgian team that outsings Liverpool in their Stadium? In the past that would never ever had happened. In Arsenal it's like a cathedral, you could hear a coin falling on the floor, that's how boring it is now there. They will probably win by six goals to us but that's ok to me as long as I had fun...

The houses pretty much fully surrounding the ground are either social housing or council flats. There wouldn't be much point in building cinemas etc as we the club and ground are 10 minutes train from central London , 5 minutes walk from The O2 arena as well as 5 minutes from the development around Greenwich!

Has everyone seen the reported comments of Charlton "Chief Scout" Phil Chapple, a man with such a low profile that he makes Howard Hughes look like an exhibitionist.
He said that if he scouts and then recommends a NON Network player, the Standard Liege scouts then have to look at him first.
LOL
In other words, in the unlikely event that we do sign someone decent - Igor in his first dozen games for instance, it is highly likely they will be moved on to get SL back where the real money is, in the Champions League.
Yet another nail in the Belgium Bum's coffin.

So in other words Chapple is a network scout then and whatever players he goes and watches he has to report to Standard Liege who will have first dibbs?
