Richard Cawley has written in Tuesday's South London Press that Lawrie Wilson could be the next Charlton player to be going out on loan.
Utility player Wilson, equally at home in midfield or at right-back, has been included in every Addicks squad this season.
The Collier Row born player has made six starts in the Championship, plus a further seven appearances from the bench.
He played in both Capital One Cup games and scored twice in the 4-0 win against Colchester in the first round.
Wilson came through the Charlton academy but was released before he made a first team appearance. Chris Powell brought him back to The Valley when he signed him from Stevenage in the summer of 2012.
The plethora of midweek games are now over until the Christmas period, and with Joe Gomez fit again, Bob Peeters may want to get more game time into the 27-year-old. Wilson has regularly deputised for Chris Solly in midweek games of recent times.
Arsenal loanee, Francis Coquelin, can also cover at right-back but his loan spell ends after the televised match with Ipswich on 29 November, though his deal could be extended.
Charlton's squad is hardly the biggest in the Championship, so it seems strange that the versatile Wilson could be heading out, even if only on a short term basis.
The inference has to be that Coquelin's loan will be extended, another player is coming in or possibly both.
If Wilson - a cult hero with the fans - does leave, it will not be a popular move with the Valley faithful.

Be a good move for him to get match sharpness.... He is not the future if we want to move upwards

But he is a versatile squad player who needs some playing time!

Agree JK, I voted for him as POS last year and he improved massively when playing every week. I feel he has gone backwards a bit through not playing regularly.

I can only see the sense in this if it is for a month, to sharpen his fitness in readiness for the busy Christmas fixture list. He had a good season last year, but hasn't been a regular starter this year, which probably would have affected his form.

Another victim of no reserve team football existing anymore unfortunately but I can only assume that this must be a one out, one in situation.

Could well be right Reams but Wilson has had quite a bit of game time so should be fit and ready. Sad if he leaves, a more than capable squad player.

Seems a strange one- as he has been used a fair bit, suggesting he is seen by Peeters as an important part of the squad.

Bob Peeters has dismissed suggestions Lawrie Wilson is about to leave Charlton on loan.
The full-back has made 13 appearances this season but is in competition with Chris Solly and the talented Joe Gomez for a first team place.
Charlton’s options in defence continue to change regardless of injury – Michael Morrison joined Birmingham on loan as former AC Milan centre back Oguchi Onyewu signed a short-term deal until January – but Peeters is adamant Wilson is staying put.
“Don’t believe the papers,” said the Belgian, who was speaking ahead of his side’s derby with Millwall on Saturday.
“There’s nothing to it.”
