Than last season? The squad is building nicely, the owner is improving the ground etc and the coach is getting some results.... This must be better and give us genuine cause for optimism - for me, Brentford away can't come soon enough!!! COYA

I'm still feeling cautious, it depends how we start the season as we have a tough start with Brentford away then Wigan and Derby at home who should be a contenter for promotion.

No argument from this quarter Big Man and rumours of two more additions continue to increase enthusiasm

Peters feels like a winner...I'm cautiously optimistic.

On paper we're certainly stronger. Buyens, Gudmundsson, Moussa and Vetokele are surely a class above the likes of Pritchard, Green, Gower and Obika.
Only two things concern me slightly - firstly, the jury is still out on Bikey and Ben Haim. They could prove to be shrewd acquisitions, adding experience and class, or they might be absolute liabilities. Secondly, for all Powell's faults, he assembled a squad with great team spirit and a battling attitude - something Riga continued when he came in. If any of these new signings disrupt that, or if they players don't respond well to Peeters' methods, the results might not be what they could be.
All that said, I feel like LB - cautiously optimistic about the new season.

The team spirit is a fair shout - we'll either find it or we'll 'lsink - I'm sure this is where JJ comes in...

This time last season we were reduced to scrambling in the bargain bin for freebies like Gower & Church.
I very much doubt that another Championship club would ever field Bradley Pritchard in the No.10 position like we had to, albeit for one game.
I see that Jordan Cook has finished up at Walsall. Another indication of just how poor our squad was.
The big question now is whether the new manager and the new players are equipped for Championship football. The standard of opposition in the pre season friendlies is so weak that we won't get to find out until 9 Aug.
Bournemouth away on the first day of last season was a rude awakening and taster of the struggle to come. Brentford will be very interesting. I can see us either beating them easily, out classing them in fact, or else stuttering to a 1-0 defeat.

In terms of quality, there's no reason we shouldn't be able to finish at least top half.
A lot of variables though could make this either a great season or a terrible one.
On the bright side...Blackpool are almost certainly going down, so that fills one of the relegation spots!
This is though, without a doubt, our strongest squad and squad with the most potential since we got relegated from the Premier League.

That's the problem - the uncertainty. Reza showed that though an international and shining in the world cup, he didn't have the resilliance for the Championship.
Interesting that the back 5 is largely a British style group with plenty of Championship/British football experience in it whoever plays. I would suggest that this a deliberate plan with the "foreigh" imports providing the variation further forward.

If you look at who we've lost;
Hughes - retired to start coaching Pritch - Leyton Orient Cook - Walsall Cort - retired Gower - without a club Hamer - Leicester Poyet - West Ham Reza - ?? Ajdarevic - Liege Thuram - Liege Obika - Spurs reserves Petrucci - United reserves
Only two of those players have (arguably) moved on to better things, with two making sideways moves. The rest have dropped down the leagues or out of the game completely. You'd hope that the lads we've brought in would fair better than that in a year's time.
