The report says that the immediate concern will be January loanees so looks like CP till May anyway, which makes sense IMO.

Certainly interesting news and developments. I must say that I am in the I will only celebrate when it becomes a reality camp though. I have cried into my Kool-Aid far too many times after having got my hopes up. Given that Into The Valley is always in the know on the big developments-- I hope Uncle Reams will see fit to keep this great site rolling along!! (please Reams!)

Have just posted that your obsession with Charlton Life doesnt always cover you with glory and I do think that. I rarely post on either thread but do read both. IMO its just a pathetic rivalry. Peoples views/opinions are going to differ but having two forums both for the same thing disliking each other is just stupid. Its not just you, there the same, but constantly slating them (as believe me, you do) makes you just as bad. I also have read your views on Powell. I believe if this takeover goes through, he deserves the chance until the end of the season unless obviously we got 12 games without a win and look like going down. By winning League 1 and finishing 9th, you can not say he has not been a success. His football has to improve aswell, but maybe better players will help that. This takeover has to be seen as good news whatever anyway.

Not slating them though was I, I was pointing out how pathetic it is that grown men get themselves in such a state about a possible move away from the Valley. Who do they think they are to dictate, supporting the club should be unconditional if you call yourself a fan yet to many of the Righteous Brothers over there only appear to want to do it on their terms which is with their manager in charge and playing at 'their' stadium.
Can we get back to the topic of the thread now please.

I hope the spivs get well and truly burned and we move forward - I'm sure they were after a quick buck on a promotion gamble.

Well of all the possible takeover rumours I've heard about, been told about or have been whispered about - at last this one seems to have been reported 'officially' with an actual comment from MS - even though it's a no comment!
Question is - as it's been kept close to the chests of those involved, why has it come out at the 11th hour after DD has been completed? This has been leaked from either the Club or the prospective buyers, but if all is tickety boo, then why?
After being told by an ex-director in the past few months that it was 'The Turks', then 'The Swedes' and most recently last week that is was 'The Americans', I find myself bemused to now find out it's a 'multi-million pound British property company' and from the SLP of all people!
The current owners have obviously taken us as far as they can financially and have been searching for ways of getting new investment - at least they appear to be doing it whist the Club is still on the way up and not leaving it until we've commmitted professional suicide and seen us drop through the leagues like the previous encumbents.
If this new lot are prepared to invest and take us to the next level, it could be quite an exciting time to be an Addick. This Club has been ripe for the picking and developing for some time now. It just needed someone with vision and a few bob to take the plunge. As we come out of recession, then there are plenty of people around the World with the money and ideas to see the bigger picture of investing and developing in this part of London. And a top tier football club could just be one part of that jigsaw.

Last paragraph of the article reads........."Slater, who it is believed will remain on the board during a three-month handover period, said: "I am unable to comment on this matter."....
From this statement, can we take it that TJ is already on his bike and Slater will follow him sometime soon.

Slater cannot talk about it because the deal is as good as done, he never said much when he was involved so he ain't going to utter a word now that he isn't. Jiminez should be back in France by now never likely to step foot in the Valley again. The takeover is not a big a secret as you think, it was common knowledge in the Ebbsfleet boardroom last weekend!

The new owners are big fans of Powell you'll be pleased to know Vol. Whether that means they rate him as a manager, I don't know, but I know they are big fans of his. The new POTENTIAL owners have plans for the gaffer as follows: www.dropbox.com/s/19pf02wi0lf8mqe/2012-08-28%2011.14.07.jpgSpotted on platform 10 Clapham Junction Station - maybe he's being lined up as the Fat Controller???

I was aware that DD was taking place for about the umpteenth time - but I only heard it was Americans last week. The Ebbsfleet link is an interesting one - does this mean PV still has his sticky paws involved?

If there are two forums for CAFC surely it is better that there are contra views and arguements that will offer and provide balance to all fans of the club. A carbon copy forum is just a waste of space!

The Ebbsfleet link is an interesting one - does this mean PV still has his sticky paws involved! Yes Reams I heard a month or two ago that it was Reg and his new mates who would swing into SL on top of their camel train. Maybe there is more to it than first reported but again who knows. Reports of Yankee property developers take me back to Bob Hoskins and the Long Good Friday and we know how that one ended

What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

Wouldnt be surprised if one of the interested parties was a fan :-) Wouldnt be surprised if an ex player was wanted in a certain capacity :-) Wouldnt be surprised if S&J (after knocking back a too low offer only two months ago) now take a lower offer.

IF we get taken over and IF we go up and IF it's got any American ownership, the next moan will be the price hikes! As said before, be careful what you wish for. Personally, I'll take the risk. COYA

It's become de rigeur to slag off TC and the owners, and IMHO he does appear to be an unsavoury chap, but the article says that our debt has been reduced from 7 mil to 4 mil so that does indicate to me that there has been prudent financial management under the tenure (if the figures are correct).
And before anyone cites lack of investment in the team, hasn't what's happened in the world economy as well as footy over the part 5 years shown the folly of spending money one doesn't have?
If the lack of debt is a key aspect of this deal going through then perhaps they've done a half decent job after all.

@ Hong Kong
Pardon me if I skip the gratitude to Jiminez bit. The last accounts show that this Club...the business he is presiding over...is running a huge operating loss. That is due to the buffoonery of the previous owners, which the current lot seem to have continued.

The other debt of 16 Million will have been factored in to the purchase price of Charlton.

Interesting to see that Slater has said previously that the club has no plans to move to the peninsular, but doesn't want another club on our patch, which I find a bit naive of him. I'm sure that if RBG go ahead and give planning permission for a multi sports facility, then they will invite another football team to occupy it if CAFC aren't interested and I for one wouldn't be happy with that.. But if the takeover is successful, then IMHO as I have said before the new owners will be keen to move with talks with RBG already taken place as part of the deal. I see that 'Morden Wharf' also gets a mention and with 19 acres of land at there disposal, there is plenty of room for a modern state of the art stadium and other facilities.
